I currently split my time between print and digital news. In my print role, I am responsible for finding, editing and placing news stories from various sources (staff, wire, chain) into the News section of the National Post and NP section of newspapers in the Postmedia chain. I participate in daily news meetings and communicate with editors in other newsrooms and sections to plan and execute editorial projects. Additionally, I am responsible for managing the flow of stories and editing copy from our Ottawa bureau reporters.In my digital role I write display copy, edit and produce stories to appear on the National Post website. Using analytics and in conversation with other editors, I help come up with the best strategy for publishing stories online and the right display copy to drive traffic. I also manage the homepage, deciding story placement and updating as new stories go online.

As part of an editing team, I wrote headlines and display for stories from all sections — excluding eSports — and published them through a custom CMS. I made edits, both substantive and copy edits, to breaking news, listicles, features and profiles. Through a collaborated process with writers and senior editorial staff, I worked to make sure published articles met our readers exacting standards. Though I entered the job as a knowledgeable sports fan, working at theScore pushed me to dive deeper on many aspects of professional and collegiate sports.

Working with the Creative Director and editorial staff at the National Post, as well as a team of editors at Postmedia, I was responsible for the daily layout and design of the National Post section that appears in the Edmonton Journal and Windsor Star.I also paginated the National Post and work with their staff to get the paper to print on a daily basis.I previously worked on the Vancouver Sun as a copy editor and paginator.

I began with Dandyhorse as a Web Editor responsible for writing stories, taking photos, updating the website and posting content to the web. As Senior Web Editor I was involved in pitching story ideas, selecting pitches from other contributors to run online a writing feature articles. In Spring 2015 I transition to the role of Art Director and began working with editorial staff to design and layout the Summer 2015 print issue of Dandyhorse Magazine. I was responsible for art selection, illustrations and all layouts throughout the magazine.

What began as an internship became a freelance role filing breaking news reports for radio broadcast. I attended news briefings, conducted interviews and sourced voices for important stories in the Ottawa area. Writing news hits was my primary job, but I also voiced reported stories and appeared on air to discuss current events. Alongside my colleagues at the affiliate sports news station, I helped cover press conferences and news related to the Ottawa Senators playoff run.
