I engage with the science community to achieve the outcomes of the River Protection Strategy. Chiefly this is in improving our knowledge of the Swan Canning River system leading to more effective adaptive management and a healthier estuarine system.I have a particular interest in water quality as well as conducting/facilitating science to inform environmental management and achieve best in industry environmental performance. To this end, I engage with multiple internal and external national and international collaborators to ensure leading edge technology and processes are considered.I enjoy bringing teams together to spark cross-discipline interaction and achieve outcomes more suited to real-world application.

Senior Environmental OfficerWestern Australian Department Of Biodiversity, Conservation And Attractions Oct 2007 - PresentKensington, Western AustraliaWorking within the Rivers and Estuaries Division, I provide input to the Department's River Science Program and scientific advice across the Department as well as to other agencies, including the Department of Health, Department of Water and Department of Fisheries.I work with the Principal Scientist to identify knowledge gaps and direct research in these areas. I have experience in engaging with research organisations to achieve these goals, development of Collaborative Arrangements, promoting cross-partnerships, student supervision and managing projects through to delivery.I sit on the Division's incident management team and provide advice and guidance to the team on response to Harmful Algal Blooms and other response issues. Advice regarding the ecology, monitoring and control of phytoplankton and other algae is a major part of my role at the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions. I have also provided such advice to international agencies.My role as requires provision of advice to our Statutory Planning Branch regarding Departmental Policy, Development Approvals, Environmental Management Plans and potential environmental impacts.I also work closely with our community outreach personnel to promote community education regarding the management and health and ecology of the Swan Canning Riverpark.
