We build intelligence and reasoning engineering assistants for the intelligence industry and the oil and gas industries using large language models, artificial intelligence and knowledge graphs.

We designed a causal modelling software for creating and analyzing models of cause-and-effect relationships. These models are used to understand how changes in one variable (the cause) will affect another variable (the effect). By introducing large historical datasets to these models, we were able to learn patterns and suggest action to take that would intervene on causal paths that were less desirable for the organization. Time to solution was paramount, we forked Node-RED,a programming tool for wiring together hardware devices, APIs and online services to build out designer tool. We built connections from our design tool to to a knowledge graph called Type-DB and used Type-DB as model storage and reasoning services. Technologies used : gitHub, nodeRed, TypeDB, docker, kubernetes, Python.

At Maana I built a team to implement a vision we had for recreating digital history of industrial assets using large millions of of drilling records. I lead the team and was responsible for all implementations and product delivery. Technologies used : gitHub, elasticSearch, docker, kubernetes, Python, spaCy, alteryxOur product called WellLine https://wellline.com/ was implemented WellLine at the following companies in their drilling departments Aramco, Chevron, Shell, ENI, Equinor, and Husky. We built and trained an oil and gas language models for each client their understand drilling, production and maintenance reports. Within a year, my team of five to delivered a production ready product that was generating revenue. Our product was listed on the Azure Marketplace and featured in multiple Microsoft technology centres globally. We built partnerships with Avanade and Accenture to deliver innovative AI-based solutions to their Oil and Gas customers.

At Maana I was involved in developing technical solutions for Oil and Gas customers around the world. This involved understanding the needs of the business and translating them into requirements so Maana could provide a solution and models that met the needs of the business clients we served. Clients of Maana include the largest companies in the world and we have developed solutions including detecting and predicting equipment failures, understanding risks associated with oil well drilling, improving intelligence around well operations and interventions.

In 2007 I moved to Thailand and start a new Global Information Technology group for Drilling and Completions. Our mission was to create a team that would provide technology support and capabilities for Chevron’s fourteen Global Upstream Drilling and Completions business units. My team provided the following services to 14 global business units.1. Managing the global portfolio of Drilling and Completions / Information Technology projects. 2. Implemented an effective global information governance model for drilling and completions.3. Developed and rolled out the a in-house software platform for doing Well Risk assessments used by over 2000 Chevron engineers worldwide. (DCKA - Drilling and Completions Knowledge Asset).4. Provided data management services for the Business Units, including data cleanup, data entry, data presentation, and monthly data quality scorecards.5. Provided support for Drilling and Completion’s core technical applications (EDM/EDT and WellView).6. Drilling and Completions technology enterprise architect for Chevron worldwide.

* Developed a 5 year Information Technology strategy for Drilling and Completions.* Contributed to the establishment of a team that is charged with developing, maintaining, and reviewing the information technology governance processes for the Drilling and Completions community.* Developed and implemented an architecture solution with Chevron IT and Peloton resources to provide an enterprise deployment solution for WellView. * Developed and implemented an architecture solution with Chevron IT and Landmark resources to provide an enterprise deployment solution for Engineering Desktop (Compass, WellPlan, CasingSeat, WellCat, StressCheck)* Advocate and promote the use of information systems to solve business problems.* Worked with vendors and other third party companies to develop a data exchange solution that facilitates exchange of information between drilling software to improve the workflow process in Chevron business units.* Work with global deployment team and local business unit IT personnel to organize and develop project plans and service level agreements to support, Deployment of Drilling and Completions software and the maintenance of the software.* Pursue new technology as appropriate to improve performance analysis and data quality control techniques.

Responsible for Unocal’s (Chevron acquired Unocal in 2004) Global Drilling business architecture, information architecture and application portfolio. While traveling extensively over all Unocal’s business units, I work with engineers to help architect applications that will fit into both Unocal’s IT architecture and into our own drilling information architecture. I actively managed the all of the drilling application portfolio and how these applications work together and share data. I understand enough of the upstream business world and the IT world to bring the two together. In 2005 I managed the Asian implementation of a common global drilling database that is used to track all drilling activities worldwide.

As part of the Production and Reservoir Engineering group we defined and executed numerous global Knowledge Management projects. We focused mainly on Knowledge Management processes and the technologies that leverage knowledge once it we captured it. My primary focus was on setting strategy for how we would incorporate technology in our Knowledge Management effort at Unocal. I many of the technology projects, and other digitization of the workplace projects during this effort.

I served as the technology focal point for the planning department by defining and executing a technology strategy. I was involved with implementing the web portal strategy for the Indonesian business unit, implementing the web document management solution, implementing a financial reporting and budgeting system (Comshare), and managing the development of other smaller IT / Operational projects.

Chevron allowed me a lot of latitude to design and implement software solutions to solve operational problems. I often bridged the gap between Management and IT. I designed and implemented an offshore personnel evacuation system, an offshore training management system, an executive information system and a GIS system for the Survey department. I played different roles as needed: Project Manager, Solution Developer, and Software Developer.

My university class mate and I build a financial accounting system for grocery stores. We wrote the application in Microsoft Access and Visual Basic. I was the lead programmer, developer, tester and training person. We deployed our solution to all of the 8 IGA stores in British Columbia.
