In my capacity as COO I supported internal operations for the firm including finance and accounting, human resources, and our internal learning and development offerings. I managed three people managers that represented different service areas of the firm including Global Health, Geospatial, and Clients Events, and by extension oversaw our talent management framework including career roadmap development practices and our culture of feedback. I also served as a principal consultant on multiple client accounts mostly focused on UN organizations, research institutions and universities.In my tenure as managing director and COO, I worked with the executive leadership to: Establish all client services offered by the firm; Develop a recruiting process and recruit >20 staff members over the course of 18 months; Grow a business development process and high-quality client delivery team that saw ~40% growth for three years running; and helped my primary clients develop program strategies and deliver on those strategies through projects and management tactics over multiple contract extensions.

In this role I supported multiple e-commerce programs at the Co-op in both technical and business strategy. In action this meant I worked with strategic leaders and product management partners to direct investments in various aspects of REI.com such as Product Page (PDP), and User Generated Content (UGC). This work led to delivering multiple omni-channel projects expanding features for customers, and improving online and store profitability. Internal to REI this meant developing portfolio management systems and measurement strategies to drive decision making. As a manager I supported a wide range of roles including project managers, scrum masters and software engineers. This allowed me to stretch myself and learn into many different aspects of the business with my colleagues. I focused on people development and cultural events both broadly sponsored as well as team-level opportunities to discuss diversity and inclusion into our team conversations. For a short time I also supported the agile coaching team within my organization that led efforts to grow our agile practices and coached organizational systems on effective agile at scale.

In the role of Senior Project Manager I led product management and supporting technical development teams for enterprise business intelligence tools. The primary program I focused on was an in-house search and data visualization application for managing third­-party provided statistics used to inform strategic goals and outcome measures for the foundation. This program included working directly with partners at the World Health Organization, World Bank, and the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, in conjunction with BMGF program managers, to provide unique insights into the data on a broad set of interventions.

As Senior Consultant I had responsibilities for both client delivery and internal firm activities. The majority of the time I was assigned to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation managing business intelligence technical team development activities that delivered data and reporting to the foundation co-chairs on strategic investment outcomes. This assignment allowed me to utilize several frameworks including Scrum principles, LEAN A3 strategy thinking, as well as, Prosci change management modeling for the roll-out of changes to data and reporting. Internal to the consulting firm I led several firm meetings for group discussions as well as hosted culture focused events to bring consultants together that worked with different clients.

As an independent consultancy we focused on technology projects for client delivery, and focused on developing relationships with clients to grow the client portfolio. I personally had two major client delivery engagements: (1) Technical Project Manager at Microsoft where I led a services transition and decommission project of Microsoft’s largest enterprise application distribution system in Tukwila data centers in Washington state to multiple international data centers. (2) Technical Project Manager at T-Mobile overseeing multiple process improvement efforts, and led technology development efforts to implement data collection methods to support asset management processes at scale.

In my tenure at Microsoft I held two program management roles in the Microsoft Online Services organization (now Office 365 for Enterprise). First I held the responsibilities of Service Manager for our first two clients, XL Capital and Energizer battery. I supported Call Center operations, acted as SME in RFP responses to potential customers, managed contractual relationships with Siemens Global Services, and stood up several continuous improvement programs for reduction in technical problems over time. Second I held the role of Customer Support Program Manager where I developed a scalable program from on-boarding new O365 customers that led to building a team of four supporting program managers, launching 228K end users in seven months, and building close relationships with the strategic leadership at Nokia and AP Moeller Maersk.
