About Jeff Drew

Founder and scientific director of three successful biotech startups. I am an experienced research scientist with over 30 years’ experience in virology, molecular biology, immunology, bacteriology and stem cell research. This includes 19 years biotechnology industry experience in the fields of stem cell isolation and storage, vaccine development (to clinical stage) and GMP manufacturing of a novel reagent/device for the isolation of the white cell fraction of blood. My work has resulted in over 40 patents, in virus stabilisation, vaccine delivery and stem cell isolation. Coordinating such a diverse portfolio of projects has required clear communication skills with scientists from a wide range of fields, CROs, partner companies, healthcare institutions, advisors and investors.

    At iosBio Ltd we have developed a suite of innovative platform technologies which has the potential to transform the field of vaccinology. As well as finally developing solutions which free vaccines from their dependency upon maintaining the cold chain, we have developed solutions enabling freezing or lyophilisation of Alum adjuvanted vaccines, and also methods which can either speed up the immune response or expand the reach of vaccine production lots (antigen sparing). All of these innovations use cheap inert excipient mixes in novel combinations and current production capabilities. We are now moving towards developing our own vaccine products.
