Project Manager for a really interesting water supply system preliminary design project for Tualatin Valley Water District and the City of Hillsboro, Oregon.The project includes a routing study and preliminary design (30%) for a 20-26 mile 72-inch diameter water supply transmission pipeline, a 40 MGal reservoir, evaluation of a raw water intake, hydraulic modelling, permitting and land use strategy, design guidelines for the program, risk management, and project management activities. I get to lead a great team of HDR engineers and consultant partners to deliver one of the most exciting water projects in Oregon. We won the project late this summer along with the first design segment of the project, scoped it in the Fall, and now we are up and running. Great clients. Great project. In July 2010, I left HWA (see below) to start my own company focusing on Client Service, Flexibility, Communications, and Value. As Owner/Engineer, I do all the marketing/ business development, engineering work, and book keeping. I recently finished managing construction for three City of Bend ADA Improvement Projects as a subconsultant to HWA. I am part of HDR’s team designing a 9.5-mile long 36-inch diameter water main for the City of Bend. In October 2010, I wrote a successful $308K grant application for the City fo bend for a pedestrian corridor improvement project along South 3rd.I have several on-going professional service contracts with the City of Bend to provide project management services, grant writing, technical specifications writing, and engineering review for a variety of projects. I have been very fortunate to maintain and strengthen my relationships with my clients during this transition.

Project manager and engineer of record for projects throughout Central Oregon. Managed a variety of projects including the City of Bend’s Phase 2 ADA Improvement Project. Also lead business development efforts as the company transitioned from a private development engineering firm to a company that provides engineering services for public works projects.My broad range of experience at HWA included ADA design; construction management; pedestrian improvements, site development; water supply, storage, and delivery; sewer collection, treatment, and disposal; storm water management; transportation networks; ODOT coordination; and county facilitation. Designed regional sewer pump stations, water pipeline projects, and multiple land development projects. Wrote proposals, burdens of proof, and a quality assurance plan and O&M manual for an NPDES sewer lagoon project.Presented to city and county commissions, negotiated contracts, and resolved problems during construction and design. Responsible for most of our business development efforts in Bend.

Project manager and project engineer for a variety of civil works projects in Washington and Alaska, including reconstruction of historic Chief Joseph Dam Bridge in Bridgeport, Washington; construction of a new Forest Highway through a design-build project in Coffman Cove, Alaska; conceptual engineering studies for Hobart Bay, a joint-venture between Goldbelt Industries and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, which planned to build a new cruise ship destination in Southeast Alaska.Key clients included US Forest Service, City of Snohomish, Snohomish County Parks and Recreation, MacLeod Reckord, Southeast Roadbuilders, Inc., Port of Skamakowa, Goldbelt Industries, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Douglas County, and Clatsop County.

I was responsible for business development and project delivery in the transportation market segment. Key clients included WSDOT, City of Seattle, Sound Transit, BNSF, HNTB, Jacobs-Sverdrup, DMJM-Harris, Johnston Architects, David Evans and Assoc., Entranco, and KPFF.

Project manager of the passenger-only ferry program to design three new passenger-only ferry terminals around Puget Sound and provide six new high-speed passenger only vessels. Capital Program Manager for Washington State Ferries for a $250-million capital budget. This was a great opportunity to learn help a government agency manage funding and deliver multifaceted programs. My duties included managing the budget, working with project managers to maintain project delivery dates, reporting the the State Transportation Commission, writing grants for FTA and FHWA funding, participating on the Puget Sound regional Council – the region’s metropolitan Planning Organization.
