Production DBA for Microsoft SQL Server.Developed reports and utilities written in PowerShell.Developed automated server deployment of SQL Server using mix of PowerShell and Chef scripts.Developed SQL Disaster Recovery that synchronizes SQL tranlog backup files to AWS S3 and then automated restores to AWS EC2 SQL instance for DBCC checkdb.

 Developed a patch automation script (using PowerShell) that installs patches for all nodes of a SQL Mirroring partnership. Works in concert with WSUS.  Production SQL Database Administrator.

 Developed improvements to SQL Maintenance. Developed data migration scripts to consolidate table schema. Recommended operational improvements to their server system.

 Developed improvements to SQL configuration scripts and SQL Maintenance Suite SQL Agent jobs.  Wrote procedure for upgrading all production SQL Servers from SQL 2008 R2 to SQL 2012. Analyzed SQL blocking storms. Wrote a technical troubleshooting guide article for the incident management team to reference during future blocking storms.

Designed and performed SQL disaster recovery drills.

Wrote a TSQL stored procedure to facilitate the onboarding of new servers into the Perf Counters aggregation system (SPEED).

Wrote a set of PowerShell script utilities using WMI queries to automatically audit the health of 100 servers.

- Onsite assgnment at Microsoft.- Supported an application that analyzed server security vulnerability for thousands of servers across the multiple datacenters of the largest software company in the world.- Defined an operations audit process to be used for all applications managed by the EAD team.- Supported a three tier web application that consolidated the security compliance data on thousands of Microsoft servers from multiple databases. I documented the disaster recovery scenarios using the SQL Server Log Shipping feature. - Installed and Supported failover technologies: SQL Server Log Shipping and SQL Server Database Mirroring.- Wrote a script to standardize the installation of SQL Server Database Mirroring using certificates logins instead of Windows authentication logins.- Wrote powershell script to generate script of all sqlagent jobs on any sql server instance.

- Maintained all machine imaging using Unified Imaging Process (UIP) for all of the SQL Business Unit- Mass Deployment of machine operating systems to enable automated product testing on thousands of computers daily with 98% success rate.- Enhanced robustness of UIP imaging WTT job by creating pre-validation steps to the job automation.- Support of lab Hyper-V Servers running Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008R2- Fully automated application installations of Visual Studio Dev10.- Wrote queries for managing data in the dynamic imaging database.

- Supervised a team of six responsible for executing all central test runs for SQL Server Business Unit using new WTT test framework with SQL Server team customizations (LRSS, Aruba, SQL WTT Scheduler). Central test execution allowed for consistent test results across feature teams plus better visibility for impact of new features across the entire product.- Mentored direct reports in maintaining all machine imaging using UIP for the SQL Business Unit. Each of the thousands of test lab machines install themselves each time a new test needs to have a fresh machine. Each machine potentially installs an OS multiple times a day. We routinely reinstall five thousand times a day with a success rate of 98%.- Directed the automation of platform installations for platforms required by tests. This included: Failover Clustering, Domain Controller, Visual Studio Orcas, OS pre-release QFE installations. Each of these platforms would install themselves so that tests ran themselves on top. This allowed SQLBU test signoffs for each of these platforms.

- Built custom lab automation environment to execute all test for the Management Tools Team in support of the SQL 2005 release. This system allowed us to signoff on the final builds in less than one week of test runs.- The features I developed included:o Fully automated lab system for 20 person test team; multiple thousands of tests ran daily on hundreds of test lab machines.o Functional Verification Test results available to testers daily from the previous day’s product buildo Test code build system, including Source Depot branch managemento Automatic detection and launch of the build system; daily launch of test runs distributed across multiple machineso Automated imaging of lab machines to any available Windows OSo Automated the unattended installation of SQL product to prepare each machine for the daily test runs.- Budgeted for Lab machine purchases. Grew the test lab from 20 desktop class machines to roughly 250 server class machines running the lab automation.- Installed and administered lab infrastructure servers.- Installed and administered failover clustering for infrastructure and test environments.- Responsible for Test Team criteria signoff.

- Feature tester for SQL 7.0, SQL 8.0o Test Engineer: SQL Server Agent: UI, Stored procedures, MSX/TSX.o Test Engineer: SQL Index Tuning Wizardo Test Engineer: SQL Failover Clustering and Named Instances- Built private domain for testing SQL Server Agent on domain controllers. This private domain was also used by other feature teams (SQL Setup, Replication, and Engine) to test their feature running from domain controllers. We uncovered and fixed domain controller related bugs in each of these features.

- Managed a three person team of engineers- Administered the 600 SQL Server machines in MSN Test Lab. - Validated any new features that had an impact on the MSN Accounts and Billing application- Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) for SQL Server and Windows NT.- Created Lab account password update utility that minimized risk to the production table. This utility eliminated risk of an adhoc TSQL UPDATE command to be run by technician. Instead technicians ran my utility.

- Helped build out the MSN test labs. Duties included assembling and racking Compaq Proliant servers, cabling, installing Windows NT operating systems, troubleshooting network issues- Administered Test Lab infrastructure including the private NT domains.

- Administered two Novell Netware networks of 50 nodes and 20 nodes for the Seattle office of Trammel Crowe- Improved overall network stability and reduced downtime for office workers

- Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) for Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft LanManager.- Installed SQL Server for use with Dynamics accounting package.- Conducted training for customer office staff on using their new systems.
