I'm a retired military officer and veteran of nearly 30 years' experience. I leverage my experience and passion to tell stories of our shared past, bringing the past back to life. I've conducted first and third person interpretation since June 1996 with the Fort Abraham Lincoln Foundation as a full-time seasonal interpreter and later interned in 1998 with the Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania National Military Park at Fredericksburg, Virginia. Later, from 2002 to 2008, I served as the historian at Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park. From 2008 to 2016 I served as the command historian of the North Dakota National Guard. Since retirement in 2019, I've returned to historical interpretation, conducting contract work at parks in North Dakota such as Fort Seward, Fort Stevenson, and in South Dakota at Fort Sisseton. I've also conducted classroom instruction on topics such as the Eastern Theater of the American Civil War, 1861-1865, and The Military Frontier on the Northern Plains, 1866-1891 via the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Bismarck State College (BSC) and with Humanities ND (HND). Look for me to offer further military history with HND, BSC and as interpretation at historic sites throughout the Northern Plains. I remain available for educational programs on the Civil War and American West.
