Senior Equity Partner and Head of Commercial Litigation in the Manchester office of Brabners LLP, specialising in Commercial Litigation (including Property Litigation). I am a member of Brabners’ Management Board. After over 35 years as a solicitor in Manchester, I have developed an expertise in helping clients to win commercial disputes, adopting a tenacious and aggressive approach where required but also knowing when to 'draw back' in order to achieve the best and most cost-effective commercial solutions for clients.I was accredited as a mediator with CEDR in 2000. I have carried out over 100 mediations since then, with a settlement rate of around 80%. I strive to help the parties in a mediation to find a resolution which enables them to bring their dispute to a cost-effective end, enabling them to achieve closure, to obtain peace of mind, and to move on. I am on the mediation panels of Sport Resolutions, RICS-PLA Boundary Disputes Mediation Service, Property Litigation Association and North-West Mediation Solutions.I have sat as a Deputy District Judge since 2001 and, due to my advocacy experience, obtained solicitors' higher rights of audience in 2005, thereby enabling me to appear in courts which otherwise solicitors (as opposed to barristers) are not allowed to appear in.I am also a member of the Football Association Judicial Panel.
