I held the responsibility for aligning the Inpatient Behavioral Health program into this new, national model. After a year-long consulting engagement with Cenpatico (Centene's Behavioral Health Subsidiary at the time), I was tapped to come on full-time as a Clinical Director. The learning curve was steep, but I caught on quickly and established a reputaiton in the organization as someone who understood data-driven, clinical intervention, knew how to lead teams, and as someone who was calm under pressure. Fresh out of graduate school, I was idealistic, optimistic, and ready to go! I worked with kids in the foster care system and with challenging teenagers in school settings. After college, I remained in contact with a handful of professors. During my time in college, I was known as a hard worker, someone who cared about their work, and as someone who asked the right kinds of questions--the kinds of questions that led to better outcomes. After graduating I returned on a semi-annual basis, usually once per semester, to contribute to some of my favorite classes.Venture Analysis guest lecturer. I typically talked about my experience in entrepreneurship and business. My favorite time was Q&A with students who were considering ventures of their own. I loved encouraging them, poking/prodding their ideas, and hopefully getting them to a new place w/ their ideas. Entrepreneurship and Creativity. I guest judge for the final project in the class, a comprehensive business plan. I evaluate the viability of the plans presented from an investment perspective. A "Shark Tank" activity before it was a thing.

I interned at The Center at Mount Paran. I worked under the supervision of Dr. Marcy Hardy, an awesome clinician and someone who really helped me hone in on what my work would become. I worked primarily with men on issues like depression, relationships, and career concerns. I also worked with couples and adolescents.

After college, I had a short stint in accounting. I soon realized my brain was not wired to be an accountant or in the accounting field. I returned to a career path that had funded my college life--landscaping. Starting from scratch, I worked hard for 4 years and had a lot of success. I met a ton of great people and really enjoyed getting to know my customers. It was a really fun and challenging experience. In 2006, I made the decision to go back to graduate school to become a counselor. About halfway through my graduate program at Georgia State, I was able to successfully sell the business. I was able to do this because I had kept excellent financial and customer records and had developed a strong reputation for the company.
