I managed lab duties from experimental design, inventory ordering, and standardizing procedures to ensuring safe day-to-day operations, instrument analysis, and data analysis. I taught portions of each class and helped students learn the concepts required for certifiable lab work. The labs and material were often established but I do feel I contributed to a refined course for each class that I taught. For courses with remote or no lab portion, I was primarily responsible for report editing and general grading. My emphasis has always been on ensuring students understand course content and are able to communicating complex ideas with proper paper structure and supportive evidence. Leading project to analyze metals accumulated in estuarine plants and soils using microwave-assisted acid digestion and ICP-MS elemental analysis

Analyzed bulk material, soils, and vermiculite for asbestos content in NVLAP certified lab. I was a part of the laboratory safety committee and constantly learning more analyses within the lab. I prepared bulk samples using gravimetric reduction, air samples for TEM analysis, air samples for XRD (silica) analysis, and was responsible for preserving water samples for TEM analysis. Partially trained on TEM and XRD analysis before deciding to leave the lab. Capable of providing consistently accurate results and reports to clients.

Taught and prepared materials for Western courses CHEM 251 (Elementary Organic Chemistry), CHEM 308 (Polymer Chemistry), CHEM 354 (Organic Chemistry Lab I), and CHEM 355 (Organic Chemistry II). Huaraz, Ancash, Peru

Collected and analyzed water quality samples from proglacial streams in Huascarán National Park. Each site was characterized and GPS points were taken to collocate with other samples collected as part of a temporal analysis. Samples were brought back to Western Washington University and analyzed for trace metals in via ICP-MS. I also assisted in other research being done which included snow collection for black carbon analysis, field spectrometry of glaciers, and a biological survey in the valleys.
