A Distinguished Alumni of Georgia Tech,Jeff began his career in R&D with Fortune 100 companies like Johnson & Johnson and Kimberely Clark HealthCare, earning patents for innovative medical devices. Transitioning from R&D to business, he joined a medical products start-up, Safeskin Corp., as VP of Marketing, Sales, and Business Development. Under his leadership, Safeskin achieved nearly $300 million in five years, went public, and was later sold to Kimberly-Clark for over $900 million.Martin then founded Yulex, an agribusiness focused on sustainable ventures using guayule, a wild crop from Mexico. His team developed the USA’s first facility to produce natural rubber latex commercially and the world’s first molecular breeding for guayule. The first commercial product was a wetsuit developed with Patagonia.Yulex expanded from raw materials to branded components for consumer products. They developed the world’s first plant-based replacement for petro-based neoprene foam, adopted by Patagonia and Decathlon, and invented the first plant-based replacement for fine denier fibers like Lycra and Creora.Martin’s work has been featured in leading publications, and he was a 2014 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist and named one of the “Top 100 People in the Advanced Bioeconomy” in 2015. He is a frequent speaker at industry and academic circles, including Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.
