As Deputy Fire Chief of Operations, my primary responsibilities consisted of policies and procedures; emergency planning and community liaison; oversee facilities, fleet, and staffing; act as the Fire Department Health and Safety Officer; and supervision of our Special Operations and Support Teams including Hazardous Materials, Technical Rescue, Fire Investigation and Public Education.

To provide training for department personnel including ensuring that OSHA required and NFPA recommended training is accomplished. Training is also determined by analyzing the needs of the fire department and providing such training that allows the firefighter to expand his knowledge base. All applicable documentation is maintained to ensure compliance with OSHA, Illinois State Fire Marshal's Office, Illinois Department of Public Health, and KishHealth Emergency Medical Service System. During emergency operations or in the realm of emergency management, I serve as the Incident Safety Officer.
