Networking• Setup routing for 10Gig links between the primary and DR datacenter including OSPF tuning for proper route selection.Systems• Upgraded Cognition Financial’s VMware virtual infrastructure.Storage• Migrated Cognition Financial’s storage from older EMC CX-400, NS-480 and VNX 5600 to a newer VNX 5700 including recover point replication. Being able to keep the project in house saved thousands in consulting fees.

Network Architecture• Worked on the design and implementation of Cisco Nexus 5596 switches to replace aging infrastructure.• Responsible for the Cisco collapsed core Local Area Network and Cisco Wide Area Network Infrastructure consisting of multiple sites with redundant links running BGP and OSPF.• Redesigned DMZ infrastructure to utilize logical vlans instead of physical switches to reduce the networking cost of implementing Blade Servers.• Improved the current PCI firewall design decreasing the likelihood of firewall failover.Datacenter and Security• Team member involved planning and executing the move of the primary data center• Planned for and implemented the migration of 300+ servers from VMWare 3.5 and 4.0 to VSphere 5.1.• Responsible for the daily operation of the VMWare infrastructure including VMWare SRM for disaster recovery.• Right sized the infrastructure through the use of blade servers, Cisco Nexus Switches and VMWare to consolidate multiple legacy datacenters into a smaller footprint.
