My full name is Jeffrey Rees, generally shortened to Jeff. I am a resident of Toowoomba, living here for the past 34 years.Professionally I started working as a volunteer to lean essential office skills, use of computers and other office equipment. This led me to a long career at USQ (University of Southern Queensland). I was employed at USQ for 30 years in varying roles from Finance Officer collecting outstanding debts, to Office Coordinator within USQ’s Continuing Education programs to finally being the Manager of Administration and Strategy, managing a small team of 9, and working across other teams in our department and the wider campus. As a senior in the department, I actively contributed to the senior leadership in our team, reporting directly to the Director. From being employed in the one organisation for 30 years, I hold Loyalty and Honesty as one of my many key values. I took a redundancy at the end of 2020 to concentrate on my health. Having been born with Spina Bifida and later in life becoming an amputee (2017). My lifelong disability worsened after the amputation; however, I am now able to return to the workforce; albeit with a preference to work from home to maintain working life longevity. I do this quite well, as I have worked from home in some capacity from 2017 to 2020. More so in 2020 given the pandemic. I have excellent skills in self-management and working from a home environment.Over the years of working at USQ I have proven myself to:• Be reliable, professional, loyal not only to my employer but the staff I manage.• Demonstrated high level of initiative within my role, compassion/empathy to staff and students administering a firmness when needed. • Successfully gain the respect of my team and piers around me.• Possess excellent work ethic and desire to achieve and exceed company expectations and meet deadlines. • Successfully meet deadline-driven tasks within the financial calendar, enrolment calendar to not only manage goals and team objectives within our strategic plan, but also the needs and goals of our client and student base.• Thrive in team-oriented environment.
