Responsible for the overall quality direction and performance of Federal-Mogul's Ignition business unit accounting for $400 million revenue, growing to $500 million by 2025. Business unit comprises of 9 global manufacturing facilities and 3 technical centers, with approximately 100 people representing the quality function. Active member of Ignition's leadership group forming overall growth strategy while assuring that quality is a foundational piece in terms of product and culture. Continuously creating and driving improvement in processes, tools, and manufacturing.

Managed a group of 7 Application Engineers focused on steel and aluminum pistons for North American customers requiring natural gas, diesel, and industrial piston solutions. Directed the Engineering and Program Management activity for North American customers; Caterpillar, John Deere, Navistar, Cummins, Daimler, GM-Dmax, and Ford Scorpion. Coordinated a $2 million group budget including salaries, samples, miscellaneous, and travel. Collaborated with global colleagues to assure the dissemination of information and technology. Worked closely with manufacturing to assure designs are feasible for manufacturing, VA/VE ideas, and quality issues with the customers were managed to customers satisfaction. Identified Federal-Mogul customer strategy along with Sales and Manufacturing. Participated with FM purchasing in the development and selection of supplier components to FM including forgings, pins, and connecting rods. Encouraged the creation of technology ideas to generate piston advances and increase piston market share.

Managed a group of 5 Application Engineers focused on Powertrain cylinder components supplied to General Motors. Focused on gasoline and diesel piston(s) and cylinder assemblies.

Managed 8 Project Engineers, 2 Customer Service Representatives, 2 CAD Designers, and 1 Systems Support. Group grew by 2 people during my tenure with increased business. Lead the development of interior/exterior products for Nissan vehicles and cast aluminum products for General Motors and Ford.

Lead local and global cross-functional teams throughout the product life cycle on multiple concurrent programs. Responsible for managing $100 millions of annual sales to General Motors which accounted for 38% of total KUS business in North America. Lead in conjunction with the Manufacturing team leaders and Application Engineers the GM business team in the creation and the maintenance of the KUS GM business plan for North America. Assumed Application Engineering role in North America for programs supported by colleagues globally.

Responsible for the development and testing of pistons supplied to Ford Motor Company. Supported internal manufacturing and customer engine plants to resolve manufacturing issues related to piston product, both design and manufacturing related. Lead the creation, review, and maintenance of critical product documents not limited to master timelines, DFMEA, Product Development calculations, APQP, test reports, prints, and CAE reports. Maintained and updated the Full-Service Supplier requirements which included the utilization of Ford required tools: WERS, POWERS, DOCMAN, Global 8D, Statements of Work, DVP&R, SREA, and PPAP. Participated as on-site Engineer at Ford engine design location.

Responsible for all commercial aspects of Ford North America Account worth over $40 million, which included negotiating product pricing, forecasting annual operating production plan for 3 plants, and resolving all commercial issues.

Performed the program management activities associated with product launches of transmission and engine block aluminum high-pressure die casting applications. Participated with a cross-functional teams to create production quality documents; DFMEA, PFMEA, Measurement Plans, and Control Plans. Liaised between Ryobi and customer which including information such as design issues, customer requirements, program timing, quality concerns, manufacturing feasibility, prototype coordination, and volume information. Led the development of Program Management System. Managed customer projects for Ford, Gm, and Daimler-Benz

Lead the dimensional management effort for Chrysler’s Jeep and Dodge Ram Van instrument panels, consoles, and headliners. Consulted on new printer combination type products with Hewlett Packard located in San Diego, CA. Developed measurement plans which included the selection of inspection points, coordinating CMM fixture design and builds, reviewing dimensional data, and Gage R&R for Chrysler interior plastic components. Supported Chrysler’s purchasing group with process sign-off, process reviews, PPAP, and supplier development of various interior and exterior plastic components.

Responsible for preparing and maintaining indirect yearly budget for 300 plus directorate as well as manpower heads for Liaison Engineering group of 75 company-wide. Created and submitted departmental manpower proposals for Government contracts. Investigated and resolved design deficiencies as reported from suppliers and in turn coordinated changes with production facilities.
