I’m a senior pipeline controller who is a key part of the team that delivers petroleum-based fuels to customers along the 350-mile Laurel Pipeline running from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh. I employ my knowledge of hydraulic theory to optimize pump operations that result in cost savings while increasing efficiency. I have more than 11 years of experience mitigating risk to public safety and protecting the environment by ensuring PHMSA & DOT regulations are followed at all times. I’m able to rely on my decade of controller experience to act quickly and decisively during emergent situations to protect the public and company assets.I work extensively within SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) software to monitor and control; pipelines, plants, compressors, pressures, flows, tank levels, alarms, detect leaks and analyze trends to minimize pipeline imbalances. I work in concert with other Regional Asset Teams to coordinate the movement and availability of products that serve tens of millions of consumers in the region. As senior controller it’s my job to help guide and coach junior controllers to help develop their skills and teach them the finer points of pipeline systems management. I’m well regarded for my ability to manage competing priorities in high stress situations including; responding to alarms, starting/shutting down pumps and coordinating movements with other pipelines/terminals/tank farms.
