The workshops that I facilitate share improvisation and physical theater with non-professional performers. The key components are listening and building with what is present in the room.People frequently associate improvisation with comedy: professional performers being verbally witty and quick on their feet. Improvisation is about much more than laughs and it doesn't "belong" to professionals. Each of us plays various roles over the course of our day: family member, co-worker, advocate and supporter. The study of improvisation helps us examine and exercise our range of character:
