Jeff Stocco is the Director of Career and Personal Development at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa. He excelled at Hibbing Community College, where he studied psychology and mathematics, graduated Phi Beta Kappa at Hamline University in St. Paul, studying psychology, mathematics, and statistics, and completed his formal education with a masters degree at the University of MN in counseling psychology, where he was steeped in the rich tradition of differential and vocational psychology. He has been employed at a research institution, large comprehensive urban university, and a residential, undergraduate liberal arts college, and most recently, a comprehensive teaching institution that serves both traditional and non-traditional students.He has dedicated his professional career (and felt called) to helping students grow into themselves, developing professionally and contributing their service and leadership skills to their communities and to the world. He cares deeply about the promise of higher education, and recognizes the increasing concerns about its accessibility. At the same time, that education must include a breadth of knowledge, a depth of professional preparation, and development of an ethic of service and citizenship.
