Professional: After graduating from the University of Delaware in 1986 with a BS in Civil Engineering, I worked for the Army at Aberdeen Proving Ground as their Asst. Master Planner. After two years, the Traffic Engineer left the post and I inherited his position. Working in both jobs until April, 1990 when I accepted a Traffic Engineering position with Harford County Government. After 2 years in that position, I was switched to the Chief of Traffic and Transportation Planning and held that job for 8 years - and was then moved into the Chief Engineer position in 1999. After the resignation of the County's Director of Public Works in December, 2015, I filled that position in an acting role for six months until a replacement was found - at which time I returned to my Chief Engineer duties where I supervised an engineering staff of 16 people and a Highway's Maintenance staff of 134. I was always amazed at the dedication and professionalism expressed by the Harford County employees and considered myself blessed to serve the citizens of Harford County.In May, 2020 (in the midst of the Covid pandemic), I retired from Harford County after serving the public there for over 30 years. Currently, I am back part-time with the County serving as the Interim Traffic Engineer while they search for a suitable replacement to the former traffic engineer who retired in August, 2020. I have been working 10-20 hours per week since September in this position - reviewing traffic studies, responding to citizen complaints and investigating traffic issues."Other" Experience: Since my children were young, I have enjoyed coaching both baseball and basketball and have had many experiences with those groups of kids and parents that I will always remember fondly. Of particular note was my position as the Varsity Girls Basketball Coach at Kennard-Dale High School (my Alma Mater) for six years. A time frame over which I coached several outstanding players and in which we went to post season play for 5 straight years - making the PA State Tournament in 2011.Personal: Along with coaching, I enjoy golf, hiking and riding my motorcycle (1992 Goldwing) and boating (Yamaha AR190 jetboat) with my wife of 33 years, June. I am also very proud of my children - my son, Rob (a Civil Engineer with JMT in Hunt Valley - also a Univ. of Delaware grad), my daughter, Carlie (a Physician's Asst.) and my son-in-law, Jaramie (a Marine vet who graduated from UNCW with a sociology degree.)
