As a business unit leader, I provide team leadership, business development and growth of a multidisciplinary engineering and architectural team. I meet project deadlines, organize complex materials and deliver solid project results—all the while maintaining strong focus and confidence under tight deadlines and varying workloads. I work with a variety of team members, including firm principals and project leaders, to meet dynamic project demands.

In this role, I was responsible for the successful delivery of small- to large-scale capital design and construction projects in biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical and/or other advanced technology markets. Sales and marketing, project management, client satisfaction and profitability of projects were critical skills and outcomes in this position.

Working off site in Opelika, Alabama, I was the project manager for the construction of a 240,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, including 8,000 square feet of grade-D clean-room space. Responsibilities:• Led internal and external project teams through project planning, design and construction execution phases• Managed internal and external resources to support project execution activities• Led internal hiring processes.• Collaborated with other project groups to coordinate project execution activities toward overall enterprise success• Led external resources in the procurement, management and conflict resolution with external suppliers• Led financial tracking for a complex construction project, including 20+ separate suppliers and 500+ change events• Developed rapport with suppliers and consultants, which resulted in relationships critical to project success• Maintained a leading role in delivering regular project management updates to Baxter’s senior management

In 2013, I left Baxter to fulfill my dream of working for a family-owned business. As operations manager, I managed manufacturing operations for this industrial and technical furniture business to increase production levels while maximizing company profitability. A few of my responsibilities are listed below:Managed production operations in a build-to-order production environment to increase production levels while minimizing manufacturing waste, work-in-progress and labor costs and maximizing productivity• Interacted with customers to resolve problems and build customer relationships• Managed 35 production associates with varying skillsets and labor costs to meet production requirements• Developed and implemented quality control processes to track and ensure consistent production• Reduced order lead times through improvements to the production initiation process after order placement• Collaborated with the engineering group to ensure manufacturing processes efficiently achieved desired results

My education and experience prepared me for an off-site opportunity in the Dominican Republic where I was challenged to manage the construction of a $13 million, 200,000-square-foot greenfield manufacturing facility that included 50,000 square feet of ISO-8 clean-room space while overcoming a language barrier. Responsibilities: • Defined project requirements and managed execution to ensure project requirements, including scope, schedule and budget, were met • Controlled capital expenditures and communicated project completion and financial status to management• Ensured facility construction and utility installation was consistent with project requirements for end users and in compliance with standards for regulatory agencies, insurance groups and safety • Managed all contractors, including those in the civil, mechanical, electrical, fire protection and engineering disciplines• Controlled site conditions to meet Baxter, environmental health and safety and construction safety standards• Defined utility requirements and procure equipment for HVAC, chilled water, PA, Electrical and fire protection• Oversaw utility system installation to ensure compliance with multiple standards: Baxter, environmental health and safety and regulatory agencies• Managed clean-room construction, including layout, HVAC controls, fixture selection and finish quality• Developed contingency plans in response to project challenges to maintain project schedule and budget

I conducted energy audits across Baxter's manufacturing plants and recommended projects to reduce energy costs. This required compiling, analyzing and reporting progress toward the energy goal on a quarterly basis.Accomplishments: • Performed energy audits in 27 plants across 15 countries - Served as team lead for 10 audits- Recommended 144 projects with potential to save $3.1 million• Provided quarterly updates of company energy performance- Collected, analyzed and trended energy consumption and cost• Evaluated alternate energy projects for technical and financial viability- Reviewed project proposals using net present value and internal rate of return criteria to evaluate financial viability- Summarized results and communicated to plant and upper management• Evaluated new technology and equipment for installation across Baxter’s manufacturing plants- Analyzed and interpreted equipment performance data to determine new technology feasibility

Kettering is known for its unique co-op education program. Life as a Kettering co-op student means adapting to a schedule of spending one semester on campus and one off campus, living in the town or city where you co-op. I alternated semesters between Flint, Michigan and Canaan, Connecticut at Becton Dickenson as a process engineer. The highly automated manufacturing plant produces injection molded test tubes. During my co-op experience, I progressed through various hands-on engineering roles involving project management, process validation, design engineering, manufacturing support and injection molding support.Accomplishments:• Led a project for the acquisition and validation of a new injection mold• Increased molding capacity by 84%• Led various process improvement projects • Used Six Sigma principles to reduce manufacturing costs
