Jeff Swenson has over two decades of private equity investment experience across multiple sectors including technology / software, services and consumer. In 2024 Jeff co-founded and is Managing Partner of BayHawk Capital, a new growth-oriented private equity firm investing in lower middle market technology and services companies. Over a nearly 20-year career at Thomas H. Lee Partners (THL) from 2004-2023, Jeff led and worked on teams that deployed over $5 billion of equity capital and sat on over 20 corporate boards of directors. Played key leadership roles at THL including Head of Vertical Software, Head of Consumer, serving as a voting member of a five-person firm-wide Investment Committee, and fulfilling key roles on THL’s two primary operating committees as Chairman of the Human Capital Committee and a member of the Finance Committee. Professional experience prior to THL included time as an investment professional at Bain Capital and as a strategy consultant at Bain & Company. From a personal perspective, Jeff lives outside Boston with his wife Meghan, three kids and yellow lab Mookie. Jeff is a huge believer in the importance of family, personal relationships, and teamwork. Growing up as the son of a high school football coach in the state of Iowa, all of these things were ingrained from a very young age. Jeff went on to do his undergraduate degree at Northwestern University where he played college football, having the good fortune of being a member of the back-to-back 1995 and 1996 Big 10 Championship teams that earned spots on New Years Day in both the Rose Bowl and Citrus Bowl. Those four years served as a master class in how to build motivated, trusting, and successful teams. Jeff also received his MBA (Master of Business Administration) from Harvard Business School in 2004.
