Engineering Excellence – TavaTek LLC is founded with the intent to deliver “Engineering Excellence” principles to our customers. We are currently doing this by working with clients to develop machining equipment and technology for leading manufacturing businesses. Current industry examples include developing processes for Allograft bone tissue implants, developing high-performance custom piston rods, providing engineering services for medical device clients, and supporting the “American Made” hand tool industry.I’m fortunate in my career to be an Engineering and Operations professional providing technical and human leadership to the #1’s in each respective industry in which I worked. The #1 Process Control Valve business (Fisher Controls), the #1 Fire Hydrant producer in the world (Mueller Co.), the #1 Hand Tool business in the US (Western Forge / Craftsman), and the #1 Trauma Med Device company in the world (Synthes). At Synthes, I worked in a highly regulated business with high growth and a very special culture of daily continuous improvement and teamwork. We wore the same uniform on the factory floor from entry level roles to the Plant Manager. We maintained a very flat organization with daily decisions made at the lowest level possible. When the owner, COO or VP showed up at the factory, they wore the same shirt too! We were supported, trained and held accountable to our process design principles by Kei Abe – our master Japanese Consultant for over 25 years. Kei worked for Soichiro Honda as an Industrial Engineer in his early days and brought to us a strong discipline and support to develop manufacturing systems and processes that delivered highest quality, lowest cost with very fast lead times in a medical device business with high mix and high volume in our industry.
