Joined the US Navy out of High School. Scored well, and was selected for air traffic control school. Excelled, made ranks in the least amount of time possible, attended night school and obtained a Bachelors Degree, also in spare time competed and won athletic awards. The Navy is just what I needed. Went back to Washington State post Navy, worked in sales for Xerox for a year (not my best!). Worked for a Gannet newspaper in sales, met my business mentor George Hestad, he was amazing. Built a photo lab business, retail, commercial and wholesale into a success with George's mentorship. Went on to massage school and yoga training from there. Began a long career in yoga and meditation, living at the Kripalu Center in Massachusetts, and Amrit Institute in Florida. Training with world leaders in health, wellness and spirituality. Then applying that wisdom and experience in my local area; opening yoga studios, offering in-depth trainings and wellness programs. More recently launching multiple IP offerings derived from the wisdom of those endeavors, with the first offering the Take a Breath/Mindful Rest offered in schools and corporations. As a 'mature' individual, I have some awesome life experiences behind me. I always say I am not a big adventurer or traveller-externally. But on the inside, I feel I am a lifelong learner and explorer of all things scientific, spiritual, and health and wellness. I have driven across the U.S. multiple times (I would love to do that in Canada as well!). I am a bit of a chameleon, willing to adapt and connect with whatever person I meet. I have lived in a couple of ashrams, and those experiences keep me curious. Most recently, I returned to my family of origin's faith roots and explored what resonates with me. While I find spirituality and Eastern teachings daunting and serious, I remain a goofball. Humor has always been foundational to my life and work. My two daughters and my amazing dog Winston keep that real for me!
