Approaching 27 years in the public schools, particularly Monte Vista, I have developed a variety of interests and skills. The first year I was there (1991) I was part of a six person team who installed an Appletalk network, which meant climbing through attics and cellars, drilling through walls, and troubleshooting many different aspects as we invented the future of the school. Monte Vista was the first school, public or private, to have such a network, and was then visited by public and private schools inside and outside of the state to model from. This entrepreneurial introduction to education has flavored my career with the belief and capability of vision and trouble shooting. I continued from that base to help install other networks, build web servers, create training for site-based web servers, software and user management, and innovating curricula and training for students and teachers alike. I co-pioneered, marketed, and implemented a movie festival at The Lobo Theater for 8 years, and arranged the event to inaugurate, advertise, and support a food and clothing bank at Monte Vista.I designed, programmed, and installed a kiosk at Monte Vista for our intranet, and produced graphic and written content to sustain it.Continuously producing and editing written, graphic, and video content and products for children and on behalf of the school, the neighborhood, The Golden Apple, and for policy makers, I have skills in a variety of software and software suites including Microsoft, OpenOffice, Google, Adobe, Final Cut, iMovie, GIMP, and publishing platforms such as Wordpress, and experience in publishing with html and javascript.
