The development effort was performed primarily in C and C++. The work also involved optimizing the layout of the data and indexes for faster retrieval from the CDROM. Other responsibilities included evaluation, purchasing and maintenance of all the company’s computer equipment, including PCS, tape drives and CDROM writing equipment.

Developed parallel processing applications on Inmos Transputers, which were used for a variety of applications. These applications included “real-time” Full-Text retrieval of UPI Wire information, high performance distributed database searching for a Human Genome database and a Navy acoustical database. Ported the Berkeley Fast File System (UNIX) to a network of transputers and wrote a SCSI device driver for a proprietary SCSI card, which contained a Western Digital SCSI Bus Interface Chip (SBIC).
