Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Assistant

•Provide a caring day service which caters to individual’s specific needs and disabilities associated with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) while maintaining dignity and respect. •Work one to one with individuals in a variety of settings including university/college; work placements; community at large and in their homes. •Assist in all aspects of personal care, toileting, dressing, eating, personal hygiene and intimate personal care when and where necessary. •Assist Manager in the assessment, monitoring, evaluation and report any changes and observations. Other supports include physical and psychological, occupational therapy, Recreational and social activities, therapeutic and medical interventions. •Weekly facilitation of peer support groups.

•Facilitate three weekly psycho-educational and on-going support groups for adults with self-identified mental health issues working to increase their wellness through the Art of Friendship peer support group. •Engage, support, and monitor clients as they transition from the psycho-educational group to the on-going peer support group or to more accommodating community resources (i.e. Direct referrals to other services.) Offering feedback, assessment strategies and goal-setting directives for program members/clients. •Develop new, innovative programs within the Peer Options Program. •Liaise with various mental health service providers to establish partnerships that maintain both an internal (CMHA) and community referral base and to offer workshops to their designated client bases. •Provide community presentations to stakeholders.
