I joined this website to make connections that will lead to my work getting published. I have submitted several short stories and children’s picture books to various publishing houses. No success so far, but I have other manuscripts I am working on that will eventually be sent out too.

I am what’s called a respite worker. It is my job to help families cope with the extra burden that comes along with disabilities and special needs. Basically, I am there to do whatever the situation calls for. Sometimes that means being a glorified babysitter, just sort of hanging around for safety’s sake while the parents go grocery shopping. Other times it means teaching a client to read, helping them manage their money at 7-11, or clearing an area on the floor so nothing dangerous is in the way while they are having a seizure. At times it can be a strange job, but it’s fulfilling, not to mention the fact that it will look great on a resume when I’m done with school and start interviewing for jobs as a special education teacher.
