Inovis creates B2B integration software and services to enable global supply chains and secure trading communities. Inovis was acquired by GXS in June, 2010.- Managed three development teams – Systems Integration (primarily C#), CRM Systems (Siebel and C#), and Financial Systems (JD Edwards / ILE / RPG). Management responsibilities include hiring, performance reviews, and expense management. Technical responsibilities include business analysis, integration design, user interface design, and C# development.- Coding projects included relational database design and UI framework for new billing system (C#, Telerik controls, JQuery, ASP.NET, AJAX, SQL Server 2005) and integration of a new Inovis product at at a major software developer (Windows Service, web services, ASP MVC, LINQ, and SQL Server 2005.- Designed user interface, integrations, and security for the Inovis Software Download portal. Integrations included real-time provisioning of software download packages based on customer assets in the Inovis financial system. The security plan included setup of an HTTP/FTP/FTPS proxy in the DMZ, secure .NET remoting between the download platform and the integration platform, and numerous real-time security monitors watching for unusual activity.- Created dedicated Systems Integration team to promote consistent, reliable, and secure integration methodologies across the enterprise. The team has replaced dozens of ancient, brittle peer integrations using a custom C#/SQL 2005 platform called Integration Master.-Led selection, customization, integration, and deployment of large enterprise software platforms including Siebel CRM (two year effort, $4 million budget), Oracle Business Intelligence, ADP HR/Payroll, Halogen eAppraisal, and Rally Enterprise.

Enwisen acquired FirstDoor. Enwisen develops tools for Human Resource teams, including Total Rewards, Onboarding, and Benefits Plans.- Managed 10 engineers (3 in USA, 7 in India) and one system administrator. - Hands-on development included rebuilding Enwisen’s Total Rewards product using VB.NET, XML/XSL, and web services. Features included multi-language support, multi-tenant database schema, and a custom XML-based domain-specific-language to enable customers to have a 100% customizable, private-label user interface. Removed hard-coded passwords, corrected SQL-injection threats, instituted data transmission and privacy standards, etc.- Renovated the development process. Implemented source control (SourceSafe), automated the build and deployment process (previously all DLLs built individually), created new coding standards, and implemented QA process using Seapine TestTrack).- Renovated hardware at Enwisen’s web farm. Consolidated seven mediocre web servers down to four high-performance, load-balanced servers. Instituted daily backups and other business-continuity/disaster recovery practices on all file servers, database servers, and communications systems. Migrated Firstdoor’s web farm to Enwisen’s collocation facility.

FirstDoor produced a search engine named AnswerSource focused on human resource content for legal compliance, risk management, and insurance brokers. FirstDoor was acquired by Enwisen in October, 2003.- Managed three developers, one DBA, and one system administrator.- Led the migration of Firstdoor’s HR legal compliance search engine and content management system from ASP/COM to 100% .NET. Responsibilities included architecture design, process model (search engine required four multi-threaded NT Services and message queuing for asynchronous processes), object design, session management (object serialization to database, no cookies), relational database model rebuild, and UI design.- Overhauled the entire development process. Implemented source control, automated builds, and build schedules.- Implemented web-based QA process using Seapine TestTrack to manage the defect workflow. Utilized the workflow tools in TestTrack to manage project requirements and work assignments.

Ockham Technologies was a venture-backed software firm specializing in web-based sales force automation tools. Ockham closed in 2002.- Managed the SRQuota application development team (six engineers, plus contractors).- Leadership responsibilities included requirements gathering, project scheduling, cost estimating, coordination with QA team (test plan review, defect management, etc.), packaging, source control management (labeling, automated builds), technical documentation, and deployment.- Architectural responsibilities included class design, relational database design, user interface graphic design, application flow, and session management.- Hands-on development included daily use of ASP, Visual Basic 6, ADO, JavaScript, ActiveX, COM+, XML/XSL, SQL Server 7/2000, Oracle 8i, and IIS 4.0.

MeasureUp.com produces web-based certification-preparation and skills assessment products and software. I was a co-founding member from start until acquisition.- Designed and coded the MeasureUp AssessTech certification test preparation and distance-learning engine using ASP and VB 6/COM. - Created MeasureUp’s e-commerce system. Features included secure credit card processing and instantaneous product fulfillment (online usage or download). End-user license fees increased 1500% in the first three months of operation. Integrated the e-commerce system with MeasureUp’s accounting system.- Built MeasureUp’s secure web-based content management system for online administration of training curriculum, marketing materials, product data, images, and customer accounts.- Hands-on development included daily use of ASP, Visual Basic 6, ActiveX, ADO, JavaScript, VBScript, IIS 4.0, Access, and SQL 7.

In the nineties, ExecuTrain was the world’s largest computer training company with 200 offices in 15 countries.- Managed six technical writers and one graphic designer. Responsible for hiring, schedules, requirements, curriculum design, editing, and team budget.- Created and managed ExecuTrain’s first intranet system using ASP, VB 5, and SQL 6.5. Features included Exchange webmail integration, distributed content management, web-based administration, and integration with ExecuTrain’s backoffice systems.- Wrote numerous instructor-led training manuals on technical topics, including Visual Basic, JavaScript, Windows NT, TCP/IP, and Lotus Notes.

Campbell Computer Services (CCS) produced a multi-user sales force automation and inventory management system called MasterRep. CCS closed in 1994.- Created and maintained MasterRep sales management software using Clipper and Turbo Pascal.- Deployed MasterRep at customer installations and performed training/support.
