Strategist and advisor to university leadership and their units to identify appropriate analytics to foster data‐informed decision‐making across all levels of the institution. I provide leadership and develop the data strategy for the generation, analysis, and dissemination of business, academic, and administrative data for use in planning, policy design, and budgeting to ensure that there is reliable, informed data to further the university’s objectives as articulated in the institutional strategy.

I teach an occasional section of intro to writing or intro to American government to stay connected with the students and to remind myself of the joys and pains of teaching. I have enjoyed learning new high impact practices and applying them in the classroom. It's a constant reminder that the practice of teaching is always more challenging and more rewarding than the theory. Oh, and SLCC students never cease to amaze me. They are incredible.

I led college efforts to build institutional capacity for evidence-based, data-informed panning and decision-making. This includes leading the following: (1) support Executive Cabinet and College councils and committees in the coordination of institutional strategic and core theme planning and facilitating and evaluating the effectiveness of cross-college strategies and initiatives, (2) overseeing the development of an institution-wide system for operational and strategic data and information reporting for both front-line personnel and college senior leadership which aligns with strategic plans and goals, (3) provide leadership for the development of a robust institutional research portfolio regarding student success at SLCC. A significant portion of this work is to ensure compliance with NWCCU accreditation standards.

I led efforts to improve institutional performance through improved use of inquiry and data analysis. In this position I led cross-college councils identify strategic objectives and the associated measures. I worked directly with institutional research to develop and produce key performance indicator reports for college leadership. I also facilitated the the successful completion of a comprehensive institutional self evaluation submitted to the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. Our report resulted in five commendations, including for work around institutional and learning assessment.

I had a great time developing and delivering the first data visualization course within the MPA program. We covered the basic ocular science and associated gestalt principles needed to make informative data visualizations. Remember, less is more and to focus on the story. I achieved high student evaluations and received positive feedback from program director.

I managed economic development and planning initiatives for the Utah System of Higher Education. Most prominently I oversaw the development of the Utah Cluster Acceleration Partnership (UCAP) initiative. This initiative has a budget of $1.3 million and has nine different projects across Utah. UCAP seeks to leverage higher education as pivotal role in regional economic and community development to secure greater prosperity for the state.
