Supply Chain Analyst
Buyer
Strict requirements, fast pace, high pressure! My first achievement at DRS was teaching the purchasing department how to better utilize the ERP. I reduced the data entry by 50% while increasing the information available in the ERP system. I then created a safety stock system that offered management inputs on dollar values and limited the need for untrained shop floor team members from having to place requisitions, keeping them assembling instead of fighting with the ERP system. I also spent time resolving material issues, including a situation where I turned a $100K invoice into a $6K credit memo by cleaning up transaction problems and proving to the vendor that they had been invoicing RMA items as new material. In that same program I created a report to consume inventory off our MRP system from a subcontractor's transaction data sent via excel spreadsheet. I had to utilize Vlookup, Pivots, IF statements, and a few other Excel functions, but in the end over 10 Million dollars of transactions were corrected. The report then became the monthly auditing method until the program closed 2 years later.By reviewing bills of material prior to purchasing I was able to stop a program from spending tens of thousands of dollars on chemicals it would have had to pay to scrap. I have stopped many similar but lesser BOM problems for DRS by paying attention and using common sense.I have written DOP's and provided training seminars for other departments as well as my own. I saved DRS a significant amount of money each year with negotiations, material reviews, and other cost avoidances and am more than happy to go over some examples in person.
