Drive Oregon is now Forth! We opened our doors as Drive Oregon in 2011, when the first mass-market electric vehicles were just coming to showrooms and "self-driving cars" were a science fiction fantasy. We've seen great success, and now we're expanding our vision to bring more people and companies together to define the future of getting around. Forth is transforming the way we get around. Through innovation, demonstration projects, advocacy and engagement, we are advancing electric, smart and shared mobility in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

Helping PECI reinvent itself to help build a new energy economy grounded in resilient community energy systems.

Hired as founding Executive Director for this new 501c6 nonprofit working to grow the electric vehicle industry and promote electric transportation in Oregon. Recruited over 100 dues-paying members including major international auto companies; secured over $3.2M in funding for Drive Oregon; leveraged over $24M for Oregon industry; and created the affiliated 501c3 Drive Oregon Foundation. Created multiple new programs including a matching grant program; the Energize Oregon stakeholder coalition to accelerate electric vehicle adoption; and the nation's most successful effort to promote workplace charging. Grew the EV Roadmap conference from a regional gathering to one of the most influential industry events in the country.

Sustainable Northwest is a non-profit based in Portland, Oregon that restores forests, rivers, and rangelands for healthier habitat and clean air and water.

Led creation of this innovative new economic development initiative in southern Oregon. Responsible for all aspects of starting a new nonprofit organization, including securing tax-exempt status, developing strategic plan, creating and managing budgets, working with a volunteer board. Successfully raised over $500,000; launched southern Oregon's first business incubator; coached eight client companies.

Various consulting projects to help develop and strengthen programs and organizations, attract resources, and bring stakeholders together. I am currently focused on launching a new economic development initiative in southern Oregon dubbed "Sustainable Valley," which will help seize the economic opportunities created by sustainability. I am also working with The Job Council to develop strategies to improve workforce services in the region. Previous clients have included the Forest Energy Group, LLC (biomass heat and power) amd the Southwest Oregon RC&D Council (capacity building.) From 2006 to 2008 I worked with the Southern Oregon Small Diameter Stewardship Collaborative to help build consensus support for forest thinning projects that improve ecological health, create jobs and economic opportunities, and strengthen local communities.

The State Environmental Leadership Program works to build state level environmental advocacy organizations that are smart, powerful, and well run.

The Trust works to help protect, promote, and enhance Crater Lake National Park. Hired as the organization's only employee, at half time, within three years I successfully built the organization to three full time staff and a budget of over $300,000. Trust programs have included an education program that now brings over 4,000 children to the park each year to learn about science; replacing the park's ambulance; launching a new Artist in Residence program; and presenting a range of events, from yoga workshops to Family Days, to help people experience the park in new ways while raising the profile of the Trust.

Groundwire (which was then known as ONE/Northwest) advances conservation through smart applications of technology and communications tools.

The Oregon Environmental Council is one of Oregon’s oldest and largest nonprofit conservation organizations, known for bringing Oregonians together for a healthy environment. Hired as Executive Director, I was responsible for all elements of fundraising, financial management, board development, program development, policy advocacy, and management. Over the past ten years, I dramatically increased the organization’s size, effectiveness, and breadth of support. Managed a staff of 15 and a $1.1 million annual budget.Key Accomplishments:• Increased budget and staff over 350%, maintaining double digit annual growth. • Passed proactive conservation legislation in four consecutive state legislative sessions.• Created bridge-building initiatives with leaders in business, farming, and health. • Launched innovative new business partnership and marketing projects, such as “eco-healthy” child care certification.• Led major marketing overhaul.

The Center for Clean Air Policy is an independent nonprofit organization in Washington, DC. The Center is a world leader in air quality and climate policy; through thoughtful analysis and dialogue, the Center creates and promotes innovative, market-based solutions to major environmental and energy problems. I was initially hired as a Policy Analyst, but rapidly promoted to manage increasingly large and complex projects. Key Accomplishments:• Created and led international transportation/land use/air quality project, raising and managing $300,000 annual budget and working with high-level advisors and regional teams in the U.S. and Europe.• Managed three-year, $750,000 project working with a task force appointed by Governor Tommy Thompson to develop a consensus strategy to reduce smog and greenhouse gas pollution in Wisconsin.

The Union of Concerned Scientists is an independent nonprofit organization of scientists and others concerned about the impact of technology on society. Working with program staff and UC Berkeley faculty, I designed and completed a study of the impact of “pay-as-you-drive” (per-mile) auto insurance on low-income drivers.

The California Spotted Owl Assessment was an effort to evaluate the economic and social impacts of spotted owl protection, and to develop recommendations for improving protections while reducing economic impacts. The Assessment was led by an advisory committee appointed by Governor Pete Wilson. I helped analyze the economic impacts of alternative mitigation strategies, drafted sections of the group’s final report, and assisted in meeting facilitation.

The Senate Office of Research is a bipartisan public policy research and strategic planning organization. Selected for a competitive paid internship program, I analyzed the legal and economic feasibility of water use fees, issues related to water trading and water marketing, and other environmental issues before the Senate. My work involved legal research, applied economic theory, and a regional input-output economic model.

Clean Water Action is a national environmental advocacy organization. As a consultant, I worked with a team of colleagues to produce a report estimating the economic value of undeveloped wetlands in California based on several economic models and tools.

The Environmental Law Institute is a nonpartisan organization based in Washington, DC that works to inform, engage, and empower environmental professionals through research, training, and education. I worked with lawyers and policy analysts to produce analytical reports on a range of environmental law and policy matters, to develop and coordinate training workshops, and to draft funding proposals. I led development and presentation of a groundwater policy workshop in Budapest, Hungary shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Founded in 1665, the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce has a rich history of supporting local businesses and strengthening Hamburg’s role as a major global port and business center. Working entirely in German, I helped research and summarize regulatory changes and local economic impacts related to the integration of the European Common Market.
