• Currently, I design and develop a variety of Situational Awareness related mechanical assemblies and systems that are deployed on the Warfighter, UAVs, and Ground Combat Vehicles.• Using SolidWorks, I conceptualize, design, detail, document, and build mechanical assemblies.• Work with the cross-functional team to achieve program deliverables that are on time and within budget.• Review TDPs for completeness, clarity and accuracy of technical content.

My role at KMC Systems is two-fold. As the Mechanical Engineering Manager of the Design Services Unit, I:• Am responsible for managing a productive workforce. I place team members with the right skill in the right place at the right time.• Evaluate and assign resources to support all Mechanical Engineering Technical Leads and Program Managers with their Design, Detail and ECO Support needs.• Manage and facilitate internal Machine Shop and Fusion Deposition Modeling (3D Printing) activities.• Provide technical guidance and direction to my team.• Coach team members in handling challenging and difficult situations.• Help my staff members develop professionally by supporting them with a mixture of challenging assignments, training classes and educational resources.• Work collaboratively with other department managers to meet corporate and departmental business goals and objectives.• Author procedures and documents that streamline the organization and add value.• Drive modernization and continuous improvement of the team and our tools.• Resolve conflict and keep the wheels of progress moving forward.• Manage departmental Human Resource related tasks and activities.• Review deliverables for completeness, clarity and accuracy of technical content.

My role at KMC Systems is two-fold. As a Mechanical Design Engineering Technologist, I:• Conceptualize, design, detail, document, build and test state of the art prototype and production Medical Devices and research instruments. (Primary CAD Software used is SolidWorks)• Designer of Invitro Diagnostic Medical Devices (many being PCR based), Laboratory Automation Systems and Cold Plasma Research and Development Units.• Manage multiple priorities in a fast paced work environment.• Modify / Re-design existing products to improve manufacturability, reduce cost and improve reliability.• Provide support to the manufacturing team with troubleshooting and issue resolution.• Conduct design reviews with the cross-functional team and the customer.• Work with suppliers to resolve technical and fabrication issues.

After a strategic corporate acquisition, I worked with U.S. based east coast and west coast colleagues on an engineering program that developed an Automated Material Handling System that combined system architecture from each of the engineering organizations.• Investigated and coordinated system design criteria with Engineering, Marketing, Manufacturing and Supply Chain departments.• Design engineered a joint technology silicon wafer Automated Material Handling System (Equipment Front End Module - EFEM).• Routinely met with key suppliers to address open issues and review project status. Instituted corrective action plans as required.• Performed critical First Article Inspections at supplier facilities.

In combination with the use of both internal and external resources, I was responsible for the design, development, and project management of machine frame weldments, minienvironment system enclosures, fan filter units, and optional equipment assemblies. These subassemblies were used in conjunction with robotic material handling assemblies to create the company’s next generation atmospheric silicon wafer transfer system.• Using Pro/Engineer, AutoCAD and GD&T practices, I conceptualized, designed and detailed a vast number of mechanical assemblies. Major assemblies included machine frame weldments, system mini-environment enclosures, and Fan Filter Units. System level “optional equipment” assemblies that were designed included a Graphical User Interface, low-cost internal lighting system, EMO assembly, and a system status light tower assembly. DFMA methodology was extensively applied and drawings were created to ASME Y14.5M-1994 standards.• Responsible for and designed the kinematic mounting system for the Robot, Traverser and Loadport Modules.• Selected and managed a strategic outsourcing partner to achieve program deliverables.• Collaborated with a worldwide technical team to achieve the objectives that I was responsible for.• On a regular basis, conducted design reviews and conveyed project status to the cross-functional team as well as a number of executive staff members.• Authored several engineering documents.• Used Microsoft Project to create and manage project schedules.• Created customer specific mechanical parts and assemblies which were driven by Beta customers.• Responsible for writing, reviewing, approving and rejecting ECOs.• This program had very strict cost targets. I successfully met the cost targets that I was given.
