Jeff Bayless is a VP Reservoir Characterization at NUTECH - Visionary Reservoir Intelligence at NUTECH - Visionary Reservoir Intelligence. So I have had the opportunity and privilege of working with Jeff as a colleague at SSI, for Jeff as my manager at Roxar and served him as a Vendor in my capacity as Regional Manager at Emerson (Roxar). In all three avatars, Jeff has been an excellent mentor, a colleague and a wonderful client. His excellent technical skills and knowledge enable him to shine in the world of G&G and RE. Jeff is brilliant at taking ideas and turning them into integrated workflows. Jeff and I had the privilege of learning the entire subsurface workflow involving Data Analysis, Reservoir Description, Welltest Analysis, Production Decline, Nodal Analysis and Reservoir Simulation with a brilliant, ahead of time product called Petroleum WorkBench, the first integrated product on an intel 386 powered PC. Jeff moved to New Orleans looking after Texaco, while I moved from Denver to Houston looking after our US and global clients. Then we later joined forces at Roxar, where we penned an idea of solving for disconnected geological and history matched reservoir simulation models on a piece of paper napkin while at Roxar....The Big Loop was born. More ideas followed where Jeff engineered integrated Shale workflows that was ahead of time, when the Industry was still fumbling around with their initial shale acquisitions. We both worked and collaborating on many reservoir geomodelling assignments around the world, including many memorable accomplishments at PDVSA in Venezuela. Jeff is not only technically brilliant, but also has a gentle and pure heart which brings about empathy and caring for those he works with. I credit him with lot of my successes in my life. He is a good friend, a wonderful colleague and an amazing leader. A diamond for any organization 🙏🏼" and "Jeff is an exceptional engineer. I have yet to find his limits. He is the most capable engineer I know. Jeff can perform the petrophysical analysis; build the geological model including the seismic interpretation, migration and attribute work; create the dynamic model; history match it and run forecast scenarios. All of this while bringing to each task and discipline a level of experience, clarity and critical thinking that elevates his work to some of the best I have seen. He is the rarely seen one-man oil company. His breath of capabilities sets him apart completely from all his peers. In fact, I think his has very few peers in this hyper specialized industry. The rare thing about Jeff is that he does not only have an amazing brain and set of experiences, but he also has a golden heart. Always whiling to go out of his way to teach or help others. He is selfless in his approach to life and work. I believe that to a large extent that is why Jeff is a magnet for talented people. Around Jeff we all improve our game.
