I have been blessed to run a company that has been debt-free and profitable for 33 years. The secrets of my success have been picking excellent people, offering products/services that offer real value to our customers, staying sharply focused on our niche markets, adapting to changing markets, having fun developing new products, persistence, being excessively patient, not pushing growth for growth's sake and gratitude. Business is an ever-changing and exceedingly tough endeavor. The marketplace doesn't care what you have done in the past. It only cares that you adapt and provide value or you are dust. This is what truly keeps me humble. The next phase of business with robotics and AI etc is going to be a sea change in all our lives. It's going to take considerable courage, skill and good situational awareness to adapt. As John Wayne once said, "Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway." I'd say that is the definition of true character, and how we need to react to succeed. I am confident that my team, and I will navigate it successfully. Bertrand Clinical Label is the clinical label division of JH Bertrand. Clinical drug discovery is a complex, expensive, and time consuming process. BCL's mission is to provide high quality clinical label materials including single ply, multi-part and booklet labels that match our customer's desired timeline. We can provide blank label stock for those who wish to print their own labels. We offer variable code printing services as well. We carefully pick and choose the biotech and pharma companies we work with so that our growth doesn't interfere with our ability to meet our customer's deadlines. As CEO, I spend most of my time visiting our customers and training our team to understand what clinical operations require in terms of quality labels. This includes finding the right label construction for the project, reviewing the process of making the labels, and discussing the nuances of how the job should be packaged so that our customers can use the labels in the most efficient way. Reminding our staff that every number we print is a patient waiting for a life saving solution is a big part of my mission as well. It gives me great satisfaction to know that our labels are an integral part of finding new life saving medicines. My family have been in the label business since 1907 so I have a deep commitment to producing the very best labels possible.
