Voce Communications was a PR and communications firm rooted in data and facts. As head of the Strategic Planning, Analytics and Research (SPAR) team for the global tech practice I led integrated new business and account teams to uncover unique insights and build effective brand strategies and communications plans to deliver meaningful value for our clients. I went freelance to focus on honing my craft, paying particular attention to creating breakthrough strategies and delivering value for my clients. I founded this business, stretching my work experience into the entrepreneurial space and creating a marketing and creative consulting firm. My partner and I focused on startups and high growth companies working in multifunctional teams of 1 - 10 contributors. We led business strategy, strategic positioning, brand strategy, go-to-market planning, communications planning and CRM/lead generation projects. Our teams created and implemented integrated marketing campaigns including digital, email, website, SEO/SEM, social media, PR, trade shows and events. Here’s where I doubled down on my marketing focus. I helped turn around a fading semiconductor company with stock price near $1. Once a highflying 2D graphics chip company for computers, the company missed the 3D graphics wave. My global team and I were responsible for crafting the business and marketing strategy to pivot the company into the mobile multimedia arena focusing on providing mobile solutions to global mobile carriers, OEMs and ODMs. Our deliverables included an integrated campaign of websites, trade shows, PR, and collateral in Asia, Europe and North America. Our efforts resulted in the closing of several multimillion dollar design wins and a stock price near $4.

I was tapped to be the Chief Operating Officer of this 70-person financial services firm. I was responsible for all operational aspects including Sales, IT, HR, Finance and, Marketing. Our integrated marketing plan leveraged the website, email, online ads and print advertising, increasing profitability 10%. Accomplishment: I reduced expenses 15% while holding revenue even in a down market.

Imagine there once was a time when web browsing on anything other than a computer was unheard of. Planetweb was a pioneer and disrupter in the early days of non-computer web browsing with the first web browser for a gaming console on the Sega Genesis! Problem: the arc of technology did not align with consumer uptake. I helped craft a business strategy that pivoted toward creating new embedded applications software (SoC) for consumer electronics devices like DVD Players, TVs and Set-Top Boxes. Consumers could now view their photos, watch their videos and play music from these devices in their living room! My team created and implemented a global marketing plan, retail sales strategy and pricing model in a complex multi-tiered channel including silicon chip manufacturers, consumer electronics OEMs, mass merchandise retailers and consumers. Clients and Partners included: Toshiba, Philips, LG, Panasonic, Samsung, Sharp, Best Buy, Circuit City, Good Guys and Wal-Mart.

Pursuing my passion for finding the best strategic approach in complex situations, I took on several interesting projects. For Infogrammes (now Atari) I designed, positioned and launched a Looney Tunes line of video console games that represented over $100MM in annual revenue. My team created an integrated marketing campaign as well as a detailed retail channel plan to help with pull through. For Red Robin restaurants, I worked with the AOR to develop a strategic brand repositioning that aligned with category trends, shifted core target audience and changed brand perception, ultimately increasing traffic and profitability.

Helping disruptive companies succeed beyond initial launch is an environment I thrive in. casecentral.com was one of the first online legal discovery companies, shaking up an industry that was mired in volumes of paper and manual processes. I developed the first brand strategy and marketing communications plan for the company and led product development initiatives for new and existing products. Over time I built and managed a five person marketing department and created integrated marketing initiatives of online and offline advertising, media planning and buying, competitive analysis and business partner integration. We grew revenue over 100% and attracted a Series A investment round of $10MM.
