Jeff was a cofounder in the successful startup CovalentWorks which provided software-as-a-service Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) for supply chain integration between small businesses and their Fortune 1000 customers. Thousands of clients managed and fulfilled orders with CovalentWorks' solutions. He focused on scaling and supporting customer service, finance, Human Resources and sales. High interest in customer service applications, efficient effective processes and business startup software.

Jeff was a member of the transition team after McKesson Corporation purchased Awarix, Inc August 1, 2007 (Public NYSE MCK). He transitioned with continuing support responsibilities to operations, finance and sales.

Jeff was the fifth member to join the successful startup Awarix and experienced a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work with 3 exceptional serial entrepreneurs: Gary York, CEO/cofounder; Paul Gartman, Brand Evangelist/cofounder; and Archie Cobbs, CTO/cofounder. And, many other talented associates as the company grew. The Awarix team created a successful new product for enterprise visual controls to improve patient throughput and quality outcomes. Jeff supported operations, finance and sales.

And, to the many physicians and fellow colleagues with whom I served."Jeff was recruited to corporate Sr.V.P. position with line responsibilities between two flagship hospitals (1,000 beds) and accountable for clinical & support departments with $370M revenue budget & $93M operating expenses.He is a Six Sigma certified greenbelt with $1M in process improvement projects. Led service improvements to help patients and physicians. Jeff implemented a $5.2M four hospital radiology digital imaging project that generated a 33% IRR and significantly improved radiology report turn-around time. He developed business plans for three freestanding outpatient diagnostic centers. The initiatives grew outpatient imaging product line by 25% in a competitive for-profit market. Jeff developed “fleet management” concept for MRI & CT capital assets to save $2M. Designed and implemented a System-wide capital analysis of telemetry requests and saved $1M. He negotiated a GE Medical Systems partnership for Biomedical services at 4 hospitals saving $1.9M.

Jeff was recruited as CEO to merge this newly acquired hospital into the Baptist Heath System. 267 licensed beds and $100M budget.He expanded needed health services including: home health care, psychiatry, sleep disorders center, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, clinical process improvements and physician hospitalist program. And, implemented benchmark measures for consistent improvement in patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes.A steward of patient resources. Increased operating Income from $831K to $5.3M. Raised EBITDA from $9.9M to $13.8M providing funds to reduce debt.

Jeff was recruited as CEO of the 134 licensed acute care bed hospital with a $51M budget. He created the strategic vision for the Kelly Owen Women & Children’s Pavillion and recruited Randy Owen, lead singer with the music group Alabama, and with his wife Kelly Owen to collaborate and sponsor the project. The Center of Excellence became a regional draw for women’s maternity care. Implemented partnerships with the Public Health Department, pediatricians and obstetricians to reduce infant mortality in northeast Alabama.Jeff built and marketed the area’s first health & fitness center. He recognized community need and built the area’s first outpatient renal dialysis center. Obtained state designation as a health professional shortage area and implemented an extensive primary care network. Excellent physicians, nurses and other professionals deliver quality care to the communities in this region that is located in one of the most beautiful parts of the United States. The area is near the mountains and a short distance from Chattanooga, TN, Atlanta GA and Birmingham AL.A steward of patient resources. Grew operating margin from $1.7M to $4.5M by expanding needed healthcare services to the community. Increased EBITDA by 62% from $4.8M to $7.75M.
