I spent over a decade serving as a senior executive for a start-up company called Defender Direct. Defender, founded in 1998, grew from 4 employees to nearly 4,000 team-members with revenues exceeding $500 million annually. We doubled our business every year for the first 11 years. We truly had the tiger by the tail. What did we learn during all this business growth? We learned companies don't grow...people do.As one of the first employees hired, I was instrumental in helping to shape the culture that made Defender so successful. Starting out in a front-line role, I was able to grow my skills while helping the people around me grow. This growth eventually led me from operations, to sales, to eventually becoming Defender’s VP of Leadership & Development. In 2011, me and my family answered the call to full-time missions and began serving as volunteers with Youth With A Mission (YWAM). While with YWAM, my wife and I led DTS (Discipleship Training Schools) in Kona Hawaii and we led several outreach trips to Asia and the Pacific. We also helped lead Commission the City events with the Circuit Riders group. We challenged business leaders to see their work as front-line missions. We finished our season in missions by serving as the Managing Directors of Homes of Hope in Mexico.Truth at Work had a big impact on me and our business. As business owners and leaders we can often feel like LIONS - lonely, isolated, overwhelmed, and never satisfied. My experience in business and in missions has prepared me to serve others who are looking to excel in 3 critical areas; their business, their faith, and their families. Balance is elusive, harmony however, is achievable. As a Chapter President at Truth At Work, I lead peer based - board of advisor groups. 10-12 business leaders who gather monthly to learn and grow together. We challenge each other and provide guidance on the biggest issues we're currently facing and the largest opportunities we have in front of us. The enemy wants us to go it alone, like a James Bond character. The Navy SEALS, arguably the baddest people on the planet, never go anywhere alone. We shouldn't either. We want to be your SEAL team.We exist to put the Truth to Work in our businesses, in our families, and in our spiritual lives so that we can live the type of life we were created for.
