• Provides Gerson Lehrman Group’s clients with relevant advice regarding US patent systems and landscape.

• Oversees the operation of the intellectual property (IP) department. Manages outside counsel, the company's prosecution docket, performs due diligence and freedom to operate analyses, and advises company's upper management with regards to how to proceed.• Provides in-house legal support. Reviews NDAs, MTAs, RCAs, MSAs, TSAs, assignment of rights documents, as well as consultancy, licensing, employee and stock option agreements etc. • Contributes to strategic planning of company's research and development direction. Jeff C. Hsu is a registered United States patent agent and a former patent examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Prior to embarking on patent prosecution, Jeff carried out his postdoctoral research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). He has published his findings in top research journals including Science. Jeff’s approach to patent prosecution is personal, collaborative and effective and aims to achieve a timely establishment and allowance of broadest reasonable claim scope for his clients. Jeff strongly advocates patent counsel involvement at the earliest stages of invention conception, when he believes contributions from patent counsel would be most beneficial to the client. He helps clients by developing and managing patent portfolios and determining the best prosecution strategies to pursue client’s desired claim scope. Jeff’s experience from within and outside of the USPTO benefitted clients from across various industries.Jeff is currently also a council member at the Gerson Lehrman Group, and is Director of Intellectual Property and Legal Affairs at GenomeFrontier Therapeutics, Inc, where he develops and manages the company's IP rights as well as patent portfolios, filings and prosecutions.Prior to founding of BOKSON IP Consulting, Jeff consulted for various law firms and start-up companies, where he provided law firm staffs with training in US patent prosecution and also provided intellectual property (IP) consultation in support of start-up companies’ patent prosecution, and patentability and infringement analyses. Jeff was also a Taiwan SPARK consultant, and for five years he served as a Visiting Expert at Academia Sinica, where he advised his colleagues on various aspects of US patent prosecution.

• Provided Academia Sinica with the relevant expertise to facilitate the strengthening of Academia Sinica’s intellectual property protection and more specifically, to enhance the quality of US patent application prosecution. Tasks include the education of intellectual property concepts, encouragement of the disclosure and timely protection of new discoveries, evaluation of the patentability of inventions, development of patent portfolio strategies, as well as serving as a liaison between research personnel and patent practitioners to ensure protection of important and novel inventions through patent applications.

• Completed a collaborative project that discovered and characterized a novel regulator of early stage salivary gland development – study results were published in a top tier scientific research journal (Co-first author in Science, 2010, 329: 562-565)• Completed a collaborative project to identify viral vectors and develop new strategies for efficient delivery of genes into embryonic mouse salivary glands. Study results were published (J. Dent. Res. 2012, 91: 197-202) • Generated and utilized a transgenic mouse model that harbor a probe for tracking individual cells to understand how cells migrate within developing salivary glands. Study results were published (Dev. Dyn. 2013, 242:1066–1077) • Managed funds for buying equipment and reagents for the collaborative projects

• Completed a collaborative project as well as led a parallel research project to investigate the in vitro growth inhibitory mechanisms of action of melanoma-targeting monoclonal antibodies 3F8 and R24. Study results were published (OncoImmunology, 2015, Vol. 4, Iss. 8) • Generated and characterized novel peptide mimics of melanoma-associated antigens, with the aim to develop them into vaccines to treat melanoma patients - study led to 2 patents (GD2, GD3 peptide mimics) • Supervised one college and one high school summer student
