As the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the state of South Dakota, I lead the comprehensive management of all technology, support, and systems critical to the state's operations. In this role, I report directly to Governor Kristi Noem and hold a position within the governor's cabinet. My responsibilities encompass overseeing the development and implementation of information technology initiatives aligned with the state's objectives and supporting all State Agencies. I am entrusted with managing the state's IT infrastructure, ensuring the security and efficiency of digital systems, and driving innovation to improve public services.

The primary responsibility of the Director of Enterprise Applications is to provide strategic direction, planning and support of all internally facing enterprise applications at the AHA. The Director is also responsible for understanding the needs of the various business units and building relationships with the different business unit leaders. Additionally, the Director is responsible for building strategic relationships with the technology partners / vendors and for creating technology roadmaps for future application enhancements and upgrades. Technologists in this department have deep levels of understanding in their various areas of expertise and as such they provide critical application support to the business units. The Director is responsible for ensuring high performance outcomes from these resources and that the needs of the organization are being met or exceeded. Primarily responsible to ensure high performance outcomes from the resources, processes and deliverables of the Operational Software team. Establishes Operational Software Systems team direction, work priorities and staff focus as the team ensures the health, growth and support of AHA’s Human Resource and Financial software systems. Measure department progress and customer satisfaction with deliverables related to operational systems, working in close partnership with business teams as well as AHA HR and Finance departments. Ensure SLA/SOP are met and followed, updated to meet compliance with internal/external audit requirements. Managed support teams for AHA’s internal facing applications including JDEdwards (Oracle) EnterpriseOne 8.9, PeopleSoft (Oracle) 8.3/9.0, Documentum (ECM2), IQ (BI and financial reporting and forecasting tool) and several internally developed / small business applications. Develop and deploy standard workstation images with Symantec Ghost locally and working with technical staff from across the nation to implement standard software images. Primarily responsible for insuring Software Licensing for the National Center of the AHA, including managing enterprise agreements, software renewals, and end user education of software compliance issues. Manage backend Asset Management System WiseTrack 5.5 and SQL database. Manage specialized projects to ensure minimal impact to the users, including hardware/software refreshes. Business continuity and disaster recover planning. Lead the deskside support team in operations, technical support escalation, and executive level user consultations.

Responsible for the hardware asset management for all end user systems including desktops, laptops, printers, and related peripherals. Also built standard corporate images with Norton Ghost and built software install packages/documentation to support local desk side support.
