About Jeffrey Sobel

Jeff is a multi-lingual, global business development specialist. He has a proven track record of assisting companies of all sizes and various industries to create, execute and integrate international market entry and growth strategies, as well as manage complex, cross-border projects. Jeff's has extensive experience in Latin America, Europe and the Asia Pacific region.Jeff has held numerous roles in global business development with companies both large and small, and in the private and government sectors (i.e. Thomson Reuters, Johnson Controls, Michael Graves Design, New Zealand Trade & Enterprise).Currently Jeff works for the New Zealand government’s international trade and development agency (New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE), helping New Zealand businesses build strategic alliances, develop commercial relationships, and connecting them with opportunities and contacts in international markets. Jeff served as Sr. Vice President of Global Business Development for FPI, leading the start up of the company's Brazilian subsidiary (FPI do Brasil Ltda) and was responsible for identifying and negotiating the purchase of distressed debt portfolios in Brazil and other key international markets. Jeff was the Director of Ocean Machinery do Brasil, a leading industrial equipment supplier in the steel construction industry. He led the start-up of it's Brazil-based Latin American subsidiary where he was responsible for all commercial operations and sales. Additionally, Jeff has held numerous global business development roles for leading companies in various industries. Jeff has has lived in six different countries, has conducted business in more than a dozen and has visited over 50 countries.Jeff has an MBA from the prestigious Thunderbird School of Global Management. He completed part of his MBA at Brazil's renowned Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ - COPPEAD), Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Mexico and the CMC Graduate School of Business in the Czech Republic. He earned his bachelor's degree in International Business from Augsburg University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.Jeff is a fluent Portuguese speaker, has conversational Spanish skills and quickly improving basic Japanese. He is a citizen of the United States of America.
