Jefferson G Fernandes is a Neurologist experienced in health management, education, research, and digital health innovation, including telemedicine and telehealth.Dr. Fernandes is the Director of the Education Program of the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth (ISfTeH), CH, Editorial Board Member of Telehealth and Medicine Today, USA, and Co-coordinator of the “Key Knowledge Immersion Course” from Ahed, Nova Medical School, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, Portugal. He is also Coordinator of the Telemedicine and Digital Health Education Program of the Medical Association of São Paulo (APM), and President of the Global Summit Telemedicine & Digital Health, an international conference organized by APM. He is Professor and Academic Coordinator of the MBA Health Management and Innovation, IBCMED:ÂNIMA, SP. He is a member of the American Telemedicine Association (ATA) and of the Brazilian Academy of Neurology (ABN). He is the CEO of SPECIS - a Health Consulting Firm. Dr. Jefferson was the founder and Director-General of the Higher School of Health Education and Sciences of the Hospital Alemão Oswaldo Cruz (HAOC), São Paulo, Brazil. He was also the Superintendent of Education, Sciences, and Innovation of HAOC and Coordinated its Telemedicine and Telehealth Center.He was the founding Director of the Institute of Education and Research of the Hospital Moinhos de Vento, Porto Alegre, RS, and held a position of Full Professor (Neurology) at the School of Medicine of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS). Dr. Fernandes was former VP of the Brazilian Association of Telemedicine and Telehealth. He worked as a consultant for the World Health Organization (Geneva), the World Bank (Washington), the Brazilian Ministry of Health (Brasília), and the Health Secretary of the Rio Grande do Sul State. Dr. Jefferson graduated in Medicine at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), specialized in Neurosurgery, and later in Neurology at the Institute of Neurology, University of London, England. Dr. Fernandes has an MSc in Neuroanatomy and a Doctoral degree in Clinical Medicine, both at UFRGS. He has a postgraduate degree in Hospital Administration and Health Business (IAHCS/PUCRS) and an MBA focused on Strategic Management and Information Technology (FGV).Dr. Fernandes has published in several scientific journals, chapters in medical books, and articles in magazines for the lay public on neurology and several subjects, including telehealth and digital health innovation.
