I oversee the Biomarker Reference Laboratory (UMBRL) and perform molecular testing for research projects. This includes PCR, gel electrophoresis, next-generation sequencing, and other study specific methods.

I work independently to complete protocols and meet deadlines. These projects include evaluation and validation of new clinical assays and/or instrumentation as well as investigation of novel clinical markers. These protocols often involve working with numerous study sites located across the US and around the world. When they come up, I solve problems with testing methodologies and instrumentation. Due to the varied studies, I am trained to use numerous clinical chemistry and immunoassay analyzers, illuminometers, LC/MS, and investigational use ELISA’s. I maintain all data, maintenance, inventory of reagents, calibration and quality control, etc... records for all of my studies seek. All of our studies are potentially subject to an FDA audit. The last FDA audit (and the only one since any of the current employees have been here) involved one of my studies. The FDA found "no significant concerns" and there was no follow-up.

For the first year, I perform clinical chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, and coagulation testing on patient samples and verify the results using Cerner laboratory information system (LIS) in the Rapid Response Lab. I also maintained the many instruments and trained new employees. I then moved to the Immunology lab where I performed manual (ELISA, Western Blot, RPR, VDRL, FTA-ABS, etc...) assays as well as using immunochemistry analyzers. While there, I created a computer program to track FTA and RPR results for syphilis testing – including conversion of a handwritten card system used since the late 1960’s. Likewise, I created a computer program to track indeterminate HIV Western blot results for patients testing initially positive with HIV ELISA or rapid HIV testing.

Worked part time while going to school to get experience in a hospital clinical lab setting. I accessioned and prepared samples for testing.

Oversaw day to day operations of large HCAV parts/equipment warehouse. I was in charge of purchasing and inventory control, oversaw shipping and receiving, coordinated warehouse and office operations. I was in charge of assembly, sales, and quality control of on-site heat pump hose and circuit disconnect manufacturing. I created a new inventory control system that ensured tracked inventory was within 2% of physical inventory. I also acted as a consultant for the running of two additional warehouses with sister companies.

Oversaw warehouse operations and ~5 delivery drivers. Completed "Purchasing and Inventory Control" class offered by Small Business Administration at PG Comm. College.

Started as driver delivery driver transporting auto parts to local garages and shops in a safe and timely fashion. Eventually, I became the dispatcher overseeing several drivers. I took parts orders from our customers, planned an efficient delivery route, and assigned the route to a driver.
