Pie for Providers helps child care providers access funding from state and federal programs with software specifically designed to streamline reporting and data collection. As a board member, I provide my years of experience in technology to help guide the technical path of the organization as well as aide in setting product priorities.

As part of the Technical Operations team I work (very) closely with developers to help them deliver products and projects faster and with as little friction as possible. I believe in exposing Technical Operations as a service to developers to help them meet their goals. Day-to-day activities include* Managing our Infrastructure with Puppet Enterprise* Participating in the release management process. Heavy involvement with pre-production environments and build automation using Jenkins* Helping shape the strategic vision of Tech Ops and finding ways to eliminate manual, repetitive tasks from our processes.* Supporting our Linux (CentOS) web and office infrastructure* Develop and support internal tools to further our automation goals. (Python, Ruby, Django, Bash, Perl, Ruby on Rails)* Support various other software components such as ActiveMQ, MySQL, Tomcat. (And technically Memcache, but lets be honest, there's not much to do there)

• Support production Linux CentOS and RHEL running an Apache, Java/Tomcat MySQL Stack• Monitor and troubleshoot JVM performance issues, making memory tuning recommendations as necessary • Develop scripts for monitoring, stats collection and automating tasks in Python, Perl and Bash.• Support ActiveMQ Messaging System deployed as a network of brokers• Working in a Continuous Integration Environment with a weekly deployment cycle• Experience working with Build Pipelines using Jenkins as a CI Server• Perform high level database performance monitoring and support activities

• Support 125 - 150 Intel based servers running Windows 2003 x64, Solaris 10 and Red Hat Linux• Develop, implement and maintain testing metrics web application, which provides management with essential testing status information written in ASP/VB.net with a SQL Server 2005 back end• Consolidated 30 servers into 4 virtual servers using VMWare ESXi, providing savings in hardware acquisition, power consumption, and maximizing server utilization • Support and maintain Active Directory services including DNS, DHCP and user creation• Monitor, analyze and interpret performance metrics for 3 tier applications; making appropriate configuration recommendations based on results• Troubleshoot web based problems with network and HTTP packet sniffers and analyzers (Ethereal and Fiddler)

• Hands on technical manager leading a team of 17 technology professionals with 24 hour onsite coverage• Supported heterogenous reporting environment using Solaris, AIX, and Windows 2003 with SQL Server and Sybase back end database servers• Identified skill set gap within department; trained 25 technology professionals in vbScript, Korn shell and bash shell scripting to assist with day-to-day operations• Created root cause analysis procedures to investigate recurring help desk tickets and reduce incidents• Automated company’s EDI process for 837, 835 and 997 formats
