Lead Singer/BassistWilder (The Band) Jan 1979 - Jan 1989I was the lead singer and bass guitarist for the rock band WILDER (stage name: Carmen Wilder) through the 80's - 90's. The band produced four music videos airing on MTV and Europe's Sky Network, resulting in moderate album sales. One of the band's breaks was due to guitarist Bill Bruce's association with the band HELLION, a band managed by Wendy Dio and Niji Entertainment (Wendy was married to the prolific and talented Ronnie James Dio). In 2020 our studio put together a 9-CD box set to commemorate 30 years of music.Albums were released internationally in 37 countries. I penned nearly all lyrics and wrote about 50% of the music, produced the recordings (on all but one release), and provided vocals, guitar, keyboards, and various other instruments to the mix.

InstructorSpringfield Art Museum Jun 1986 - Jul 1986Springfield, Missouri AreaI taught at the Springfield Art Museum for their ArtWorks program in the mid-80's. I had about 20 students and taught them the fine art of cartooning. By the end of the program each of the students had designed their own characters and cartoon themes - we all had a lot of fun and it was when I first discovered I had a really good connection with kids when it comes to creative projects. I have plans to donate my time to mentor all ages of students from K through College after I retire.

Assistant Art DirectorMd Publications Jan 1985 - Jan 1986Springfield, Missouri AreaMy responsibilities were to design and produce three magazines for the auto industry (Muffler Digest, Transmission Digest and Undercar Digest) including all editorial and advertising layouts. This was back before the advent of computers in design, so we did everything the old fashioned way - spec type, wax the back of it, and use stat cameras, triangles and t-squares. -
DesignerBass Pro Shops Jan 1983 - Jan 1985Springfield, Missouri AreaI was employed at Bass Pro Shops in their in-house design department and worked on catalogs, flyers, calendars, logos and illustrations while there. I also directed photo shoots and helped market all BPS products, Hemingway's Restaurant, and many other facets of the company. -
Designer/ArtistTriad Screen Print Jun 1982 - Jan 1983Springfield, Missouri AreaI was an artist for this screen printing shop that predominantly produced t-shirts and hats, my second art job when I was 23 years-old.

Designer/ArtistAll-Star Creations Jun 1980 - Jun 1982Springfield, Missouri AreaThis was my first art job at the age of 21 years-old. I was an artist for this screen printing shop predominantly producing designs for t-shirts and hats for the surrounding areas, particularly the Branson entertainment market. This was where I learned to use stat cameras, silk screen printing equipment, and did everything by hand back in a day prior to computers and design programs. I loved this job and was recommended there by a wonderful man by the name of Jim Ewing, a local philanthropist with a park in Springfield named after him. He would drive to Kansas City just to take me to dinner and check on me while I attended the Kansas City Art Institute, the alma mater of my hero Richard Corben, a famous comic artist I ended up meeting and collaborating with decades later.
