I have over 20 years of experience working as an engineer in the crane and rigging industry with an emphasis on structural design and analysis related to heavy rigging and heavy transportation. I am passionate about achieving continuous improvement through the design process and I have demonstrated a proven ability to apply innovative, effective and safe solutions to a number of complex rigging and transportation challenges, while often working on multiple projects at one time. I have had the opportunity to design and test a variety of lifting equipment, often with capacities of 500 tons or more. I have the ability to develop comprehensive lift plans accompanied by thorough and complete calculation packages to meet exacting customer requirements. I have had the privilege of working with several major contractors and manufacturers to develop and oversee rigging operations in the fossil and nuclear power generation segments, heavy civil, petrochemical and heavy industrial markets. I am familiar with a wide variety of tools and equipment used in the heavy rigging industry including lift towers, stator frames, hydraulic gantry systems, skidding systems, strand jacks and hoist works. I am also familiar with hydraulic platform trailers (including SPMTs) as well as hydraulic dollie transport systems. As I have advanced in my career I have been given increasing levels of responsibility by each of my employers. They have recognized my reliability, dedication, high level of attention to detail, commitment to team work, and my creativity in the development of solutions to technical and non-technical problems alike. When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and three kids as well as with our friends.

Vp Engineering And AdministrationW O Grubb Crane Rental Mar 2011 - May 2016North Chesterfield, Va, UsIn addition to my responsibilities as the administrative vice president, I am responsible for production and/or oversight of the production of engineered drawings, calculations, engineering analysis and related reporting and documentation pertinent to the services provided by W.O. Grubb. Recent projects have included:• Rigging and rough setting boiler components at Maryland hospital complex• Two-crane lift of HVAC components at a federal government facility in Washington, DC utilizing innovative rigging techniques that allowed a load to be passed from one crane to the other in mid-air.• Designed rigging in support of recovery of fallen mobile crane in Washington, DC area • Developed rigging plans and methods for setting generator, turbine and condenser on a project in New England. Designed a unique, light-weight turntable mounted to the trailer deck used to rotate a 90-ton condenser. • Developed rigging plans and methods for removal of several rolling mill components weighing approximately 200 tons from a steel mill in the Mid-Atlantic US. The design was required to overcome uneven support conditions and vertical clearance challenges to remove the components. I designed a powered adjustable lift beam that reduced headroom requirements and compensated for offset center of gravity of the components. • Developed engineered drawings, calculations and method statements for receiving, transporting and transloading to railcar a 390-ton combustion turbine.• Designed 300-ton capacity elevated runway lift system. Design included fabrication drawings for numerous components including base grillages, end bents, lift beams, strandjack supports as well as load test design and oversight of same. -
Project Engineer / Engineering ManagerBigge Crane And Rigging Sep 2005 - Feb 2011San Leandro, Ca, UsResponsible for leading the engineering effort on numerous heavy rigging and heavy transportation projects across a variety of industry segments including power generation, refineries, and heavy civil including development of calculation packages and operational procedures. Some highlights include:• Pressurizer replacement at a nuclear facility in the northeastern US using a unique rigging arrangement I designed to accommodate the extremely low headroom available and to overcome a defect in the plant's overhead crane hook• Multiple large stator lift and rough-set operations• Barge-mounted lifting and support frame for lowering a 1,200-ton inlet structure to the bottom of a lake in the western US. • Rapid replacement of a railroad bridge in the Mid-Atlantic region using platform trailer and gantries • Developed the segmentation, lifting and transportation plan that was part of the winning proposal for the dismantling and transportation to a remote disposal site of a nuclear research laboratory facility in the western US. Promoted to the role of Engineering Manager in August 2008, becoming responsible for managing and staffing engineering offices in Virginia and California. -
Senior Project EngineerAmerican Heavy Rigging & Hauling Co. Apr 2001 - Sep 2005Responsible for leading the engineering effort on numerous heavy rigging and heavy transportation projects including development of calculation packages and operational procedures. Some highlights include:• Synchronized jacking, sliding and rough setting of a newly constructed pollution control module from its construction location to its permanent location 150 feet away. The structure was 80 feet wide, 120 ft long and 150 feet tall and weighed more than 800 tons.• 450-ton static vertical load test of load handling components for a nuclear power plant. • Numerous generator and turbine lifts using hydraulic gantries and lift frames equipped with strand jacksAlso responsible for the structural design, analysis and testing of many pieces of rigging and jacking hardware. Charged with hiring additional staff to accommodate growing demand.
