I've been working with DOS/Windows and Mac computers professionally since 1992. I started out with DOS 5 and Mac OS 6.7 and have been working with one version or another of both PCs and Macs since. I fell into web programming and design back in 1996, and loved it. I have been involved in it ever since. I love challenges. I love puzzles and word play. I love having to think and re-think problems until I find an answer. I love to spar with those nagging issues that make other people throw up their hands in despair. Although I'm an IT professional and a gadget geek, I'm actually more well-rounded than it appears. Even though I spend my days immersed in IT-related technology, I like to read non-tech literature and putter around my home shop. This is a proprietary application that basically consists of a basic "out-of-the-box" framework of functionality. I'm currently helping to extend that functionality, mainly via javascript and a proprietary markup language on the frontend, supported by fairly extensive SQL querying behind the scenes, to provide content. Did DevOps work. Researched containerized applications and microservices and how we can utilize Docker and Rancher to possibly facilitate more efficient application and service distribution.Worked with CI/CD integration, setting up Jenkins pipelines, tied to git repositories.

Application Administrator-DeveloperCreighton University Mar 2011 - Aug 2013As App Administrator, I've installed, configured, and update several applications used within the University. Some of these applications include Sage FAS, Tableau, and Sage Math. To help alleviate some of the Windows-only access pain associated with ITSM, I've developed a web front-end to allow easier web access to ITSM information for virtually any OS, including mobile devices. I've developed it using PHP and straightforward HTML.With OTRS, I've built web-based forms that can be used to create new tickets via PHP and web services. I've also created a new web-based self-service portal, using PHP and HTML, rather than use the sparse, default OTRS web front-end.One of the complaints from our techs was that we've been through several ticketing systems and, as such, they've lost access to the historical data provided by those systems. To alleviate that problem, I've created a web portal for users to be able to look up tickets from past ticketing systems. I ended up having to do a fair amount of data manipulation to get everything into a usable form. The back-end is MySQL. The front-end is basic HTML, generated via PHP.

Web And System Administrator - Creighton Medical Labs / Pathology Dept.Creighton University Dec 2004 - Aug 2008While I was the System Administrator for Creighton Medical Labs, I created a perl-based server monitoring system to proactively track servers and alert on server issues. Up until that point, we had to rely on users calling in and yelling at us about stuff being unavailable before we knew there was a problem. Being able to jump on problems BEFORE users noticed stopped the yelling, but didn't really increase their appreciation of us. Oh well.I created a HIPAA-compliant imaging system for autopsy images. It was similar to Google Images, but with lovely autopsy photos! It provided auditing for all access to the images, to make sure that only those that SHOULD see the images, COULD see the images. Who else would want to anyway? I was responsible for IT Support personnel serving approximately 125 users on both Windows and Mac. A fair amount of these users were Pathologists and Residents. We'll just say that they can be somewhat demanding and leave it at that...

Webhedd Internet Services provided Web design and hosting to small businesses in Nebraska. This was a side business that I ran in addition to my "day jobs".
