My first assignment was to help streamline System Administration aspects of a rapidly growing company.In late 1998 I was asked to come aboard as a full time employee and was initially tasked with leading up Telecom and Network Engineering demands for our Seattle area offices. 1999 proved to be a year of further growth for my career and for Amazon as a whole. My team was tasked with building out Global Fulfillment/Distribution centers for Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.de. In doing so I led a team of 6 skilled professionals across the US and internationally as we designed and implemented the fundamental technology for this aspect of the supply chain. In 13 months we had built eight sites and further improved two existing sites.Early 2000 I joined the World Wide IT Operations group. I was tasked with hiring System Engineers, Network Engineers and Software Developers for all Fulfillment centers in the United States locations. I spent the better part of this year traveling, interviewing and training personnel on site to ensure operational excellence within our distribution network.2002 saw that I was back in the Seattle area after extensive work related travel. I was promoted from my role in Supply Chain Services and asked to work in the Systems & Network Operations Center for our Northwest data center. In this role I was focused on Network Engineering, Network Security and Linux/Unix/HP/UX engineering. I continued to strive and grow in this realm and was promoted to a Sr. role in 2003.2004 -2011 I've worked in web services in a multitude of roles. I've been instrumental in the System Architecture, Design and Threat Models, Launch readiness and finally launches of SQS, Mechanical Turk, S3, EC2, EBS, Cloud front and AWS Import/Export to name a few.Now it is time for me to find the next company that I can bring my skills to. -
