I have spent more than a decade building and growing high impact programs for technology commercialization, open innovation, entrepreneurship support, startup incubation, venture investment, and economic development following my early career experience in medical devices and as an entrepreneur. At GENIUS NY, as part of overall program responsibility, I led recruitment, due diligence, and portfolio selection efforts for two rounds, yielding the two highest raising cohorts to date, with the three highest raising individual portfolio companies, at a program with global reach attracting hundreds of applicants per year from dozens of countries, investing $3,000,000 annually into UAS and autonomous systems startups recruited to Central New York.At the Medical Center of the Americas Foundation, I was part of an incubator founding team and built the organization's first entrepreneurship programs on a new medical campus as a pillar of a regional economic development strategy supporting the Paso del Norte Borderplex region of El Paso, TX, Las Cruces, NM, and Ciudad Juárez, Chih., MX. Within our first 5 years, we had won two highly competitive federal grants: the Growth Accelerator Fund Prize from the US Small Business Administration ($50,000; 2015), and the i6 Challenge from the US Economic Development Administration ($750,000; 2018).I started as a law intern>(founder/vendor)>IP Manager at Blue Highway, a subsidiary spun out from Welch Allyn for collaborative R&D through sponsored research and licensing, where I supported transactions for 26 new products in development, collaboration agreements with over 40 universities, and was responsible for prior art search, due diligence, and commercialization assessment on more than 200 internal and third-party invention disclosures received.I have a background in technology commercialization law from Syracuse University College of Law, and as a graduate and undergraduate student researcher in entomology at Cornell University, I designed statistical models and quantitative simulations, contributing to several research publications in the areas of biological control and integrated pest management decision making for crop protection.
