In July, 2019, I began a career in facilities operations and maintenance management after thirty years in the practice of consulting engineering. The last twenty of my consulting engineering years were as co-owner and principal Professional Engineer of a mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering firm.I was "green" long before "decarbonization" was the buzz word of the day. I was a member of the committee that started the USGBC Chapter in Memphis and I was an early provider of commissioning and administrative assistance on projects seeking LEED® certification.I have a background in volunteer grassroots government activities. I led the creation of the ASHRAE Government Activities Committee, from the original Members Council and Board of Directors motions through their implementation. I served on my city's Historic Preservation Commission for eight years. I occasionally assist amateur radio operators with Code and zoning enforcement issues as a Volunteer Consulting Engineer for the American Radio Relay League. I have served at all levels of ASHRAE. Rising from a Chapter Board of Governors member in Memphis in 1998, I advanced through Chapter and Regional leadership positions, and served three years on ASHRAE's Board of Directors. I am currently serving as Chair of Guideline Project Committee 32, as a member of the Handbook Committee (2027 Applications), and as a member of several Technical Committees. Employer support of my ASHRAE service - paid time and financial support for conference attendance - is required from any employer I would consider.

The CEP Control Room monitors campus-wide HVAC alarms, the medical gas system, the tube conveyance system, and the fire alarm system on a 24/7/365 schedule. The crews I manage provide all Facilities Operations and Maintenance Dept. services that were available on the campus from 4:00PM-6:30AM during the week and 24/7 . My crews also provide support to the ALSAC buildings on campus.I manage capital projects for equipment and systems related to steam and chilled water systems and underground storage tanks. I am a state-certified UST Operator responsible for all of the UST's.I manage the the campus-wide Integrated Pest Management Program.I provide engineering advice to other managers and FOM leadership when requested or when I proactively saw a need (utilizing my prior thirty-year consulting engineering career). -
